Doesn’t seem like we are gonna jump many teams next year and the rangers and devils now look better then us next year too |

Biggest thing we've seen so far from trades is cap space is extremely valuable, and it might get more valuable as time goes on. We have some to use. JB must love these trades. Great opportunities for him. |

No we didn’t. That’s a fallacy.
O’Reilly at 7.5 mil + two additional roster spots >> $ than Thompson, Berglund and Sobotka cap hits for 3 roster spots - OneKaneOneCup
Ror = $7.5 + (2) $0.875m is $9.5
Berg ($3.875), Sob ($3.5), Thompson ($0.925) = $8.2.
Subban $9m
NJ (2) x $0.925= $1.85
So Nashville saves $7.15 on cap or less $0.925 (due to roster spots). Sabres saved $1.3 on cap.
That was why return for Subban was not great. |

he's a 28 yr. old rental who's lining himself up for a rather lucrative long-term contract that will take him into his mid-30's...love the player, hate that scenario |

if he can take advantage of a one cap-crisis, i'd be thrilled |

So we’re just assuming the two other roster spots were league min rookies?
I get what you’re saying but I just always hate when people say the $$ was even or we took on more. It’s just not true
But moving on |

I totally get it. I’m not planning to get rid of him as a husband, but I’m always open to offers if the right thing comes along...

I’m with you Pac. I’d put the farm on Hall deal though. Skinner, Eichel, Dahlin, Hall is a foundation for success. May not lead to playoffs this year, but at least we would be building a competing team in the east |

it's just so frustrating watching other teams at least trying to improve the quality of players and dumping some cap space.
while we sit here and argue about draft picks that won't help the team in the immediate future.
what else had the organization done recently, oh yah, they've qualified some of last years slugs.
so it's quite easy to be impatient
hopefully Botts has something up his sleeve |

Can botts trade for gritty? |

Then Hall leaves as a UFA after that 1 year of not making the playoffs. |

that's the thing about botts, pretty sure he wouldn't do a deal like that unless he was very sure he could re-sign a player like that |

27 other teams have done the same
I wouldn't want to send a future 1st to get Okposo off this team
I am surprised he didn't trade 31 yesterday but it sounded like teams weren't willing to make moves yesterday.
I would have liked Subban it would have at least been fun to discuss.
Botts is a very methodical guy though. I still believe he is going to make some bigger additions |

TOR, more or less, has an agreement in place with Kasperi Kapanen on an extension. Not expected to be formalized until TOR cap (Marner) situation clarified. It will be a 3 year deal with an AAV in the $3.2M to $3.4M range. |
