I was way off
except about sparks.. He did surprise...at how awful he was - senstroll
My highlights:
The biggest disappointment will be: Zaitsev. Oh Lord, the contract is looking worse every day.
People think this guy is good, but he sucks (and the reason is): I'm going to go with Sparks here. Why? Because I had an emotional attachment to MakeASavey. And with Komarov gone, I need a new guy to have an irrational hate-on for...
If you remember nothing else I said, remember I said this about the 2018-19 Leafs: The best team (as of opening night) in my lifetime. The regular season is really just the pre-season. This year will be a failure if they don't make it to the third round.
Marleau, Patrick: I worry that Father Time will catch up with him. So I'm not going to make a prediction here - I'm just going to say a little prayer.
My lowlights:
The biggest surprise will be: the Leafs' goals against will be low - but the defence will not get credit.
Marner, Mitchell: 70 points. And will be my favourite player. Damn, this kid is creative.
Nylander, William: traded for a defenceman.
Andreas Johnsson: Leafs Nation wildly over-rated this guy. 30 points.
Kasperi Kapanen: Another wildly over-rated player. Good on PK, not much else.
Rielly, Morgan: Love him. 5 more points than last year.
Most disappointing team: Boston. This is the year Chara can't do it anymore.

To be fair, the leafs were a sub .500 team last season from january.
Or .500
Also if marner signs at 9.5 - 10, what other team has 40m locked in on 4 players....who are all forwards? - Fakepartofme

Oh but wait, those guys were all huge players on our PK (that blew) so now we're going to finish 31st in PK%...
... or like I don't know, throw anybody on the PK? "Hey, kid. Yeah you. Stand here. Swing your stick around... like this." - gravyface
So our penalty kill sucked, but now you are angry we got rid of the guys who sucked on the penalty kill? |

The PK sucks in part because there is no natural centre that plays on it. |

No, I'm paramocking (I just made that up; feel free to use it) others who were all sad that Brown, Zaitsev, and Hainsey were gone, like they were they were defensive stalwart Selke candidates.
I did like Brown though, just not at that price for a 4th liner. |

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your ass. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite. - AdamFrench

Leafs will trade Nylander before the season starts
https://twitter.com/brend...tatus/1150927987258351616 - senstroll
Should show this to Max. Titled... Nylander a Leaf for life. Followed by Hyman traded for Alex Nylander and there dad Michael hired as assistant Gm advisor to one Kyle Dubas. Who just happens that day to be extended as the highest paid Gm for eight more years.

No hyman to start the year either. So the pk should atleast have a couple natural centres.
Maybe Dubas wants Matthews to start playing pk minutes. |

Yeah but I mentioned the reason for their sub .500 record. the idea that will happen yearly now is ridiculous.
Is it better to have 6 players at 40 million who are not as good? I see a lot of teams pending a big amount of their cap uneccesarily on supporting talent. - RogerRoeper
pay elite players a little more and bottom 6 players a little less
continue to feed your bottom 6 with draft picks and value UFAs
Or do what the Canucks are doing |
