Tell that to the Red Wings. They are notorious for over cooking prospects. Served them well over the years.
- TheBigBuckTheory

prospects should stay in the A until they are 22 or 23 at a minimum.... let em ride the buses for awhile putting in their time and dues...

Oh for frank's sakes, really?

Let's play a fun game.

Liljegeren was selected 17th overall in the 2017 draft.

Can you guess how many NHL games have been played in total by all defencemen selected after him in the 2017 draft?

Sixty franking two.

Sixty mother-franking two.

It's franking redonkabonk to suggest that Liljegren has been held back in any way.

He has received great experience with the Marlies, while figuring out the North American game.

Shame on you, Borje.

Shame on all of you.

- Atomic Wedgie

And he's suffered a couple of injuries in both of his AHL seasons interrupting his development. I think could earn some call-ups later this season if he stays healthy and maybe forces his way in their permanently.

Babcock blamed everyone but himself … I think the leaf should have grabbed coach Q the best and real best coach in the NHL... Babcock has been gliding on his laurels forever... coach Q should be in charge of Team Canada going forward to boot.... not this guy Babcock...

Leafs have their replacement in Keefe. There won't be anyone else hired.

.

I might be in the minority but i thought the moving of Hyman and Nylander away from Mathews was a big mistake. I think they complimented each other better then having either Kap or johnson there. I believe the lines should be...

Johnson-Tavares-Marner
Hyman-Mathews-Nylander
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Kapanen
Moore-Spezza-Shore

- Buck Norris

with Hyman out at the outset of the season....

Moore Tavares Marner
Johnsson/Mikhevev Matthews Nylander
Mikhevev/Johnsson Kerfoot Kapanen
Agostino Goat/Shore Spezza

I can't imagine that they won't give Mikhevev at least a look - particular with Hyman out to start.

if there's an offer sheet that yields 4 1st round picks - yes they should seriously consider taking it... the second option could a be deal with Columbus for a top end defender such as Jones, plus other assets.

at very least the Leafs should be leaking (with intent) the idea that they are considering trade offers for Marner... as that would likely galvanize the players' intent most quickly

hey man... you misunderstood what I was trying to say...

Liljegren hasn't been hampered at all by playing with the Marlies - not what I was saying.

I just believe the Doogie Howser the GM decided he didn't want to have to protect either Liljegren or Sandin in the expansion draft.... the other stuff is on Babcock for sure.. he(Babcock) doesn't have a stellar record of giving young guys a real shot... Corrado, Holl - what did they get 5-10 games total? Dermott only got a group of games when someone(I forget who) was injured.

It seems to me that Babcock likes to roll out retreads like Marty Marincrap - rather than give young guys a shot.

Sandin will 100% be there..

Liljegren has to make the team this year or else it’s time to start labeling him a bust.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

He just turned 20 a couple months ago.

And he would have gotten NHL time at the end of last season but he had multiple high ankle sprains.

EDIT: My only concern with Liljegren right now would be that he might be injury prone. Two years in a row he had substantial injuries.

He'll be okay. Rielly had a serious knee injury before being drafted by the Leafs. Unlike the old days, Leafs are spending money on providing the money for top level support for the developing talent. It's not a fluke that some decent players have come out of the Marlies

Fun fact I did not know:

In the 2017 draft, the Islanders drafted Sebastian Aho in the 5th round.

He's a defenceman. He's played 22 NHL games.

Who knew?

- Atomic Wedgie

He's also 23. 3 years older than Liljegren.

I agree, but some guys are just cursed. Bad luck injury after bad luck injury. And Liljegren has had some bad luck in his short career so far.

It’s a Lock that Dion will get a contract from the Leafs, never mind a PTO. Spezza type deal. I’d consider Vanish on a PTO though, trade him to Buffalo when Hyman gets back.

Why? His age? He was the best of the Marlies d last year, even better than Rosen. And yes, better than liljegren.
