do you believe we evolve from monkeys?
Having read these forums for far too long, I submit as evidence the last several pages, that in fact monkeys evolve from some "humans"
do you believe the bite from a black mamba will probably kill you?
Racist! Why single out the black variety
do you believe islam is a religion of peace?
Of course, as long as everyone in the world follows the prescribed doctrine...else, declare war and kill all detractors
Do you believe girgens is an all star?
There is a picture of him in an Allstar U I playing in the Allstart Game, so he was, yes.

I think it’s pretty impressive that we still have a top 10 quality prospect pool considering Mitts and Dahlin were full time NHLers last year. |

Agreed. Think about it. Our previous 2 first round picks are with the big club. Botts has done a good job drafting (so far). It also shows how bare the cupboards were when GMTM got canned. For a supposed genius drafter, he really did a poor job with the Sabres.

Our defense got run all over last year
Yeah, we ranked high in yardage allowed
But that was be most weeks the opposition didn’t have to try in the 4thQ by our offense couldn’t move the ball consistently
Our ranking of 18th in points allowed was more accurate
And even that should be lowered bc (again) teams didn’t really have to play offense against us in the 4th
Our defense could be better, possibly even good
But we aren’t one of the best in the league...
yet - jdfitz77
We were 16th in rushing yards allowed and 10th in yards per rush. I agree that that needs to improve, and adding Oliver and Edmunds improving in his second year should definitely help.
One thing I should have added in my original post is that if the offense can sustain some drives to keep the defense fresh. For years our D has been on the field too much and would just tire out. Also, this lead to a lot favorable field position for the opponents.
Take away Peterman's two starts against the Ravens and the Bears where they scored 47 and 41 against us respectively, and I wonder what our ranking would have been for total points against. |

Better, for sure
But with the ineptitude of our offense last year,
teams didn’t have to do much to be at us
Yds/rush were so good bc teams were just killing the clock for a while in most games & we knew it
I guess it’s kind of chicken & the egg
And i do think the defense can be better this year
I just don’t see us as a legit top5 defense,
and even think top10 is pushing it

I just read Sal Cappacio's article on the WGR Radio Appabout Cody Ford's performance, in which he provided an analysis of Ford's first 18 plays while Allen was in the game. The vast majority of which were pass plays, with Ford doing relatively well which is encouraging especially since his Pass protection is not as strong as his run blocking.
Anyway, reading that article caused me to think how lucky we are to have the type of sports coverage we do for the Bill's and Sabres. Say what you will about specific personalities, but overall we enjoy pretty, pretty good reporting. Sal does a good job there. Add in The Athletic with Matt and Joe...very good. Instigators, Hamilton, Vogel, Ryan etc...Sabres covered well.
I don't subscribe to, nor really miss BN reporting...occassionally I drift over there...but would rather read takes from Die by the Blade or other secondary media sources.
Just wish Kris Baker was more prevalent... seems he cfc writes quick blurbs anymore, rather than consistent articles. |

Isn't he just a normal dude with a regular job who just follows prospects super closely?
Not disparaging his work, but I don't think it's a full-time gig for him |

He had his own website (sabresprospects.com) and was a lot more prevalent. He was even hired to write for the athletic and maybe had one article then really just disappeared. I enjoyed his write ups though. |

Welcome. Just one multiple choice question to make sure you are not a robot:
If you have a 6th round pick, is that basically:
a) A 2nd round pick
b) A 6th round pick
c) A 7th round pick
d) A trade asset to be used to get another 6th round pick, which is technically a 7th
Choose wisely. - RhinoFan
B...a sixth round pick. If you're lucky you might get a VO (7th I believe), but probably not. |

Anyways.....lets put the conversation back on track. I know the prospects challenge roster isn't out there yet but who are we excited about? Our 2 USA hockey D men, if they are both playing? Pekar? Borgen & Hickey? Finnish D men? Anyone who can score goals? |

Prospect ranking of my interest level
-Cozens, if he is cleared to play
-Jokiharju, assuming he qualifies as a Prospect
-Olofsson, assuming he qualifies as a Prospect
-Samuelsson
-6K
-Borgen
-Laaksonen
-Johnson
-Pekar
-Asplund
-Davidsson, if eligible

None of the college or Euro prospects would be eligible as their respective studies or seasons would have started already. |

Technically ..... dahlin and mitts should be considered prospects too.
So the NHL top 10 prospect list was consuming on what the requirements were.
The the nhl network added joker. Dahlin and mitts. Easily number 1

Last time we "hurried" a trade we ended up with tage Thompson and sobotka.
I'm fine with jbotts making the right trade at the right time |

That wasn't really hurried. Supposedly he was shopping ROR at the TDL
Botterill just stocked up on RHD and now his highest paid one just asked out. Botterill has kind of telegraphed his pass here. Everyone can see what the move is. Just sell Risto for a reasonable 2RW and be done with it |

Um
A midnight deadline before a 7.5 million $ bonus would be considered "hurried" in my book.
Risto just let the interviewer know he wanted to be traded.
He let Mike luit and his friend know a few months ago. Pretty sure botts was privy to this information "just asked out" seems really bizarre.
Follow along please |

Maybe his reluctance to pull the trigger sooner hurt him in both cases, as well as the return for Kane
Maybe it's not hurrying that gets him in trouble, but dragging his feet too long
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |
