He's not coming over this season is he? I saw someone saying that they think he's NHL ready but I thought I heard there was zero chance of him coming over for this season. |

Thanks Carol.
Is that title correct? - YeOldTimer
Yikes - thanks.
That's what I get for cutting and pasting and trying to maintain some kind of formatting consistency!

The NHL.com article I quoted said he's aiming for a year from now. Everything I've seen suggests that he's committed to Rogle again for next season.

Didn't he pass some comments shortly after being drafted that suggested he was hoping to make the big club this year? |

Possibly, it was his own comments i'm remembering and that's how some thought he could be a dark horse to make the team.
I had kind of thought that JB was telling him to spend the year in the SHL and coming over at seasons end. |

Thanks Carol! I love this pick and in general how they focused on wingers this draft, just like d last draft. For everything JB does wrong he gets it right in the place i think is most important for any franchise: drafting and developing. This and next camp... honestly most camps from here out, are going to be entertaining as a lot of skilled kids will be pushing for spots. Took a while to get here, but we’re on the way back up imo |

I agree with your post except for the parts where JB compensated for his mistakes and his record for developing players.
Drafting yes, but I’m not sure there is enough evidence to suggest this regime is great at developing. |

Yeah I can't think of a player that has come up through Utica and won a full time spot on the team, maybe Demko but he wont be a starter. |

development doesn't just happen at the developmental league level. McCann and Virtanen were mishandled but I've liked what they've done since then. |

Do you think Van would be contending already if they would have started the rebuild in 2014? |

Thanks Carol. What nick name should he go by Hogs, Hogy...?
Seems to be the most skilled forward prospect in the pipeline. Yet he's not soft and plays with edge which will go well with the new team identity. Seems there is hope he's a steal of a pick that can play on the 1st line. Though I'd be happy with 3rd line versatility.
Maybe he will be a good fit with Petey like it was hoped Dahlen would be. Let's say he develops well this season in Sweden. Should Canucks bring him over before end of their regular season if they are in the play-off mix? |

We'd probably have more prospects in Utica and having more prospects pushing each other might speed up development, so maybe? |

Nice little street hockey tournament, here in my community, with former NHLer's, Bryan Trottier, Gino Odjick and career minor-league, Peter Leach, in attendance.
Gino had some interesting comments about the Linden scenario.
Sure was nice to chat with all 3 of these guys.
The Trottier rings are pretty impressive, all 7 of them. |

There were quite a few more prospects than Van has had in a while last season in Utica and one went back to Europe and one complained about not getting a call up and others didn't have very good seasons being shuffled in and out for other younger players.
Cream of the crop will rise to the top or sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.

Very few of our top prospects go the route of AHL. With so many options these days I am not sure it will change. |

HAHAHA I just heard that podcast this morning. He also said that Petey seemed a bit arrogant when he first met him, but after his shell breaks and you get to know him, he's a very funny guy with a great sense of humor. |

Yes but that is rubber stamp material out of just drafted prospects.
