Rangers should and will be very much in the mix for a postseason spot ...
Can’t see the Isles replicate last year with Lehner gone.
Devils with all the influx of talent still have no one that can stop a beach ball.
Blue shirts will be better and have def upgraded talent wise - I’m more intrigued by what Quinn does or doesn’t do with his lines and D ... I still think the jury is very much out on his coaching. |

I kinda agree on all points. I would say that I think Blackwood is slightly better than people give credit for. If he's just average, I could see the Devils having a solid year. I think if everything breaks right, this is very much a team on the bubble. It's 20-21 where the big step forward happens IMO. In terms of Quinn, yeah this is going to be the test. I give him a pass for last year because he was learning and he had a crap roster. Can't really say that this year. |

They will probably sneak in at the 8th or miss the PO which is fine and what most realistic people expect.
Yes the jury is still out on Quinn as it has only been a year. 2021 is when he will be judged fully when the bad contracts are gone |

I am happy with Quinn from what I have seen. Taking a rubbish roster, being competitive every night with a bunch of 1 goal games, holding players accountable...all good things. For once we weren't talking about "compete level."
My only complaint is that 75% of the way through the season the team was still taking too many men on the ice penalties seemingly every night. To me that is something a coach should fix almost instantly. |

Quinn established accountability, which was desperately needed. A baseline within the organization as to effort etc. is now in place. I am not concerned one iota if he is the right coach for this team because I firmly believe he is. Plus unsure why that is the debate right now. |

The real debate is why JT Miller wasn't listed on both the top centers and wingers list.

I read this story about Kevin Hayes which is kind of funny:
One of the more glaringly egregious contracts to be signed this NHL off-season was Kevin Hayes’ seven-year, $49.9-million deal with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Philly needed some help down the middle of the ice and Hayes wasn’t a bad option by any means. However, forking over more than $7 million a season plus a fifth-round-pick to acquire the 27-year-old from the Winnipeg Jets seemed a little steep, especially considering he has only produced one campaign with 50 points or more. Even the Dorchester, Mass., native knew he was getting more than his worth, according to Frank Seravalli of TSN.
“I don’t understand why [the Flyers] felt the need to go out and spend a pick in order to go [trade for Hayes],” the hockey reporter claimed on the Snow the Goalie podcast. “I was with a current NHL player the night before Game 7 in Boston who - five minutes before seeing me - ran into Kevin Hayes outside somewhere in downtown Boston, which is obviously his hometown.
“He goes ‘Oh yeah, I just ran into Kevin Hayes.’ He said Kevin Hayes told him the only way he’s going to the Flyers is if the Flyers overpaid to get him.”
Seravalli goes on to estimate that Philadelphia spent roughly $600-700K more per year than market value for him, although he does admit it’s hard to gauge exactly.
It’s sounding like the five-year pro is going to have to prove that he’s worth every penny. Luckily for him, I’ve heard Philly sports fans are easy to please (not). |

Ranking the Devils ahead of NYR for P O's ,well thats one of the reasons we MUST :
make a trade for a top 2 c center to make the P O's
HANKS last 2 yrs and were gonna pace it out & not make a run this yr & next ?
gotta assume we are looking for the next Braassard type deal
J G Pageau? Ott
i think its gonna happen before the camps start
Kreids aint in the pic anymore ; he has to anchor our top line with Zbad & Panarin
Take Georgiev ,Lias A , Howden, D prospects Lindgren + Lundkqvust + draft picks
you can use Names or Strom to fill out the trade if needed
and
use any combo of the talent above
to
Get a top center to fill the whole in the middle , we aint No doughnut
we are HANKS last run ... 19 - 20 & 20 - 21 |

Quinn also put the fight back into this team. They worked hard and never really quit. In years past, if they were down a goal or two in the 3rd. period, I wouldn't even watch b/c the game was over. Last year, I didn't have that feeling. They always seemed to try to make a comeback. No quit in Quinn or his NYR team |

there is NO WAY the Rangers are trading next year's first rounder at this point
if they exceed projections this year and at deadline time they want to add, they'd probably consider trading it
but there isn't a chance they are trading another potential lottery pick right now
especially for a guy like RNH who could possibly only be here two years anyway |

I’m not saying Quinn is or isnt the right coach.. it was simply an observation that the jury is still out on him ... despite Jans assertions that he is the guy for him, it wasn’t a debate.
As for establishing a baseline of accountability.. fixing problem that Helen Keller could see doesn’t make him the right coach... It makes him competent. |

I think Quinn will do VERY well in New York. He took a team last year that was basically terrible and had them play hard and not quit right up to the last game of the season! As far as managing the team in a big spot the jury is out. Quinn to me is the perfect coach going forward.I think hank has a big year and the rangers make the playoffs and once their in anything can happen! I’ve been a ranger fan since the late 60’s and have not been this excited about an upcoming season in a LONG while. LGR! |

Schneider put up very good numbers in the second half of last season after a horrific first half while recovering from hip surgery. Blackwood was very good in a small sample. Goaltending is a legit concern but the potential is there for a pretty solid tandem.
The real issue is no one else in the farm system is remotely NHL capable.
For reference Cory ended with a .903 Save% and 3.06 GAA in 26 games.
Henrik Lundqvist ended with a .907 Save% and 3.07 GAA in 52 games.

Oh I wasn't saying he's the end all/be all, but I like how he brought back accountability to this team, and I loved their compete level. Like you said, time will tell. |

For all the criticism lobbied at the contract Panarin received, look at his ranking and then let me know if you still disagree with the deal he received.
Please don't ask that question, Jan. |

To answer Jan's question:
Zibby --- I agree that he is not a top 20 center. However, there are 31 teams now in the NHL and I would rank him in the mid-20s. He certainly could improve his ranking with another strong season.
Panarin --- Definitely belongs in the top ten.
Trouba --- Definitely belongs on this list. First pairing all the way.
Kakko --- Interesting how at the end of the video, the commentator states that he had spoken to "several" teams that would have drafted Kakko first overall instead of Hughes. I wonder if this is bullsh!t or, if true, how many teams really felt this way???
Quinn did a GREAT job last year establishing a new culture with the team. Coming from the college ranks, he is clearly used to being around the younger players. Considering our roster will be even YOUNGER this year, I expect him to continue to get the most out of our guys... |

really I have only seen one person disagree with the deal
like I have said before, the alternative was that Panarin was signing with the Islanders and pairing with Barzal the next 7 years.
nobody should prefer that alternative |

Jenner in CBJ ? plays center or L wing
a nice pkg could find him on broadway
same goes for Ots Pageau
neither deal needs A #1 pick especially next yrs ? maybe yr after with a top finish BUT
not quick to deal a #1 UNLESS you get a top center back
Like Monahan in Cal. with all the cap issues in Cal never know ? they have alot of centers & wingers plus IF Howden Lundkqvist #1 next yr Georgiev
OR
R N H = howden Lundkqvist georgiev & #1 pick
next 2 yrs covers HAnks tenure & a proper cup run
@ 26/27 he's 29 and resignable then ?
gotta fill the hole with more than pipe dreams & waiting
Hanks clock ticks ,why keep 8.5 mill for continuing the build
Its built ? gotta trust we have the unknown D ready to bloom
our top 12 with a new 2 c aint shabby with total upside to youth hockey mixed well
with vet talent ,thats why Kreids shouldnt be shopped/signed (unless discount) at least not now ...
Season has to be attacked not coddled so NOT for another year of frustration .... |

We all know he will become the third best winger on the team after 100 pt Kakko and 90 pt Kravstov |
