I definitely hope, I wonder if the fact that we have traded the last 3 college signings we made (Hayes, Vesey, Pionk) works against us too - jimbo83
All of them got to play a ton and show their chops, and NYR got good value in return for all of them when they were traded. Win/Win for player and team |

would like to know the percentage split on NYR team either standing pat & continue to build after a remarkable summer and WAIT on the talent we have to fill the roles still open ….OR after the incredible moves made to up grade the talent & HANKs last 2 yrs for a cup, do the NYR’s make the moves (2 c & vet D ) with our depth to make the run the team & fans deserve ,
I see chips to use breaking them down into 4 categories to find top 2 c center
Andersen or Howden ,Georgiev 1 yr vet level
Lindstrom, Lundkqvist + other wing or D prospects just no higher on talent , from the prospect pool NO (Miller rykov)
Strome ,Names A dA Fast ? vet level
draft picks
depending on the combination of talent sold : NYR can find a top center to work with Z bad
we could even afford to over pay to get who we want , not that we should but could based on return
cant say Chtyl or Howden or Andersen will fill #2 slot , may hurt there games trying to .
with Hanks last 2 yr s & the great moves made , shoudnt we raise our sites and go for a P O reservation,
its never wrong to try to go for it , just how & what you risk doing so .
I dont see the risk , we will be fine with these kind of moves to cushion the growth not stifle the kids
who knows Hank could play 5 yrs younger & ALL the youth find game in the NHL and we sip from Stanley’s chalice |

the Rangers made so many trades over the years with the thinking that they need to win now because Lundqvist isn't getting any younger
I was the biggest Lundqvist fan around, and it takes nothing away from his legacy, I just don't think he's the best goalie we have anymore, and I am certainly not in favor of making panic win now moves with him in mind.

I can see him playing 50 games, and IF playoffs happen, then whoever is playing the best should play |

Ya pretty much this. As much as it pains us to say it, Hank might be in the way right now. Georgie and Shesty might already be a viable 1A and 1B in this league. Hank's presence might actually cost us Georgie for nothing come expansion time. |

While he showed small samples of the old Hank last season, I thought he was pretty bad most of the year. Even with a crappy D in front of him. Saves he should make he just wasn't making |

yeah, agreed
he's 37, most great goalies in NHL history have significantly slowed down by that age
that's when Tony Esposito started hitting the 4.00 GAA area
Roy only played one more year after he turned 37 |

It'll never happen, but I'd love for Hank to announce this was his last year right now. Have him play 40-50 games, most of which is at home. It might take a bit of roster juggling, but make it so Shesty and Georgie both get some starts. Have a Mariano type retirement tour. After the year, he gets a cushy front office job and works as a team ambassador. Even though I guess he wouldn't go out on top, it also prevent him from having a Brodeur like final season. |

his final season is 4.5 mil in cash after his July 1st signing bonus
a lot less than his salary for all his previous seasons, just hard to imagine anyone just walking away from 4 million bucks |

can he scrape together a year like brodeur had at 39, and make one final run over the next two years? |

I don't think he can, objectively, I dont think he has it in him
after January 31st last year, Lundqvist won two starts
he looked old |

He really wasn't that great during that regular season, he improved a little bit from the prior year, but was still solidly off from even the late 2000s. Don't forget though the Devs also had some favorable playoff matchups, playing a spent Flyers team and us that they were kind of the perfect matchup for (even though we swept the season series, every game was really tough) Could Hank post similar numbers in 20-21 when the team gels a bit? It's possible. I'm just saying for that to happen, it'll be more about the team then Hank. |

Ahh Back from suspension.....
Thanks Tonybere for reporting me, what kind of cheese do you like? Would you like a box of Kleenex?? Sunblock 5000 for your skin??
Sorry Nashty Rangers cant afford a number one center. All number 1 centers cap hit is 8 mil plus so even if they can find someone in the league willing to trade a number 1 center they dont have the Cap space.
Nobody will take the players you are offering for a number 1 center anyway. They are all unproven prospects. Doesnt matter what you think of them. Look at the list Jan posted. Would you trade any of them for a couple of prospects?? Even our number one pick next year might not be top ten, unless we move up in the lottery. |

31-21 w/ a 9.08 and 2.41 gaa is something i'd sign up from hank immediately. dont know if hank will get that many games though |
