Sens have as many as 4 picks in the top 40, maybe 5 in in the top 45 and they can add more headed into the deadline.

This is shaping into a very solid rebuild. Sens fans will quickly embrace the allure of what they perceive as coming in their future hopes for a very young team. Good summary of Sens farm depth (Sporting News)

This is another assessment from the youthful analytic edges (although I am not certain of the evaluation criteria used) that names the Sens as already having the best stocked farm system.

My hope is that by this time next year the debate is what needs to be added to make the Sens a serious Cup contender.

I'm of the opinion they should try trade up with San Jose's pick in the draft, depending where they finish. They have the assets.

I imagine Tierny and Duclair will potentially be traded at the deadline. They may try to trade boedker, but i doubt anyone wants him.

That's why god invented Baileys in coffee.

The plus side is that its hard to imagine any other team would finish below Ottawa in this scenario, let alone 3. I know Detroit and LA will give Ottawa a run for their money this season (in badness"),

I'd say the most realistic possibility is the Brown prediction. His injury troubles have made me wary in the past. I like his potential, and am perhaps being a little pessimistic.

I did the same thing with White, and I appear to have been wrong about him so far. Here's hoping for a repeat.

Falling out of the Top 5 for this year's draft would be the worse case scenario for this year. As long as we land one of Lafreniere, Byfield, Perfetti, Holtz or Raymond I can live with pretty much everything else on that list.

I'm not really sure what the point of this blog is, but any season without painful trades involving each of the team's best players, an outdoor game ruined by the owner, cyberbullying among player wives, a public Uber scandal, or gay sexual harassment is essentially a win by default.

The lottery these days, finishing dead last gives a fifty percent chance of picking fourth. But with the quality of players today even 4th overall is almost a guaranteed impact player.

Well ... when you put it like that it just sounds bad.

Huge draft for Sens. I believe they will get that impact player. Easy to get excited for the future.

It looks like Lafreniere, Byfield, and Raymond will be the draft lottery prizes, but even outside of those 3 there appear to be quite a few high-end potential players. They really do need a top-line centre, so it will be interesting to see how those options play out (eg. Lundell, Perfetti, Lapierre, Stranges, etc.).

I would argue that this "worst case" scenario is not even that bad. My disaster scenario has the Sens playing just bad enough to miss the playoffs, but far too good to get a good draft pick (bubble Hell). Chabot plays awesome, and when it comes to offer him a decent contract as a RFA, Melnyk tries to be cheap, opening the door for other teams to try and pry him away. Further to Melnyk's frugality, his financial instability causes him to be ever more tight fisted, ever delaying his promises to start spending more and keeping the Sens a mediocre team. Finally White takes a huge step backwards, making his contract a really bad deal, further justifying Melnyk's attitude of not paying decent money for good players, instead stocking the team with kids and over the hill veterans, and LTIR players who do not even play! In summary, as long as Melnyk is the owner a worst case scenario will involve his cheapness, and sadly it is realistic...

Oh, don't worry. We'll find a way to add to the list.
