You just said OJ will potentially still be on the NHL/AHL bubble heading into 2020. OSL and I believe that this year will be his AHL/NHL mix season and he'll prove himself as a NHL'er down the stretch and lock himself up a spot in 2020. - Nucker101
I was responding to Vantels post about what the debates will be about next summer. Where does OJ fit was what I said would be one of the topics. I fully expect him to be called up and fight to stay this season and setting up the debate for next season... like you are debating right now for 2020... it will be a topic next summer for sure.
Can I still get in on the group hug?

Well said.
Benning is brining that same unique mix to this group. He witnessed how the Bruins do things first hand and played a part in it himself.
He already had his skill offensive players in EP, Brock, Hughes, OJ and now he's added Pod, Miller, Ferland, Benn and Myers to the mix for size/physicality to go along with Bo, Virtanen and Roussel.
The Canucks are no longer a bottom tier team when it comes to toughness and size, there's a lot of size in the line-up and a few guys willing to throw hands. And no one doubts the skill of the young core.
No reason to be down, things are looking up. - Nucker101
JB is building the team very nicely & checking off all the boxes. Every category of skill is getting deeper.
Now we all can watch it play out 👍
The grit & tenacity of some picks are going to be very interesting to see. When TG says he wants to be hard to play against he is getting the players for just that. Now it’s time for him to bring it to the table in spades. |

My prediction - People will be debating whether the “C” on his chest caused Bo’s dip in production when in reality it was a relatively predictable reduction in opportunity (he should not be on PP1 with this roster & that will cost him a dozen or so pts)... meanwhile Petey finally has real linemate options for an entire season, goes off for 90+pts, & becomes THE undisputed face of a hungry young emerging team.

Quite possible. For me, a dip in Bo's point production wouldnt be a factor whether he's the leader or not but I expect Petey to be the poster boy for the Canucks one way or another. Bure was and Linden had the C.

Agree. Tbh too much is made of the C & fans think it’s a need when it’s not as far as the dressing room thinks it is. Petey will C the dominant line since it is so obvious. Idc if a C is given out or wait longer. If Petey gets it i’m cool & he is not a bad choice since i don’t think Bo is an automatic or is it going to make him better or not. Lastly i like Petey on after game interviews with his style & delivery. Never was a fan of hockey jocks & their scripted replies. It’s something the NHL sucks at in a big way. |

Vegas Flames Canucks - VANTEL
I can see that 👍
SJ doesn’t scare me at all.
Oilers did nothing to get better.
Coyotes look better.
Ducks & Kings outright suck.
The roster we now have is better suited to play against VGK & SJ who had our number. We just cannot let the Yotes get away with taking wins from us. |

SJ is still going to be good. They won't be the big fast scary Sharks anymore though.
Eriksson will be good but I think he will be on IR for a good part and Burns will lose some scoring options without Little Joe and maybe Big Joe?

Yep still a good team but losing Pavelski is a big hurt. As for Burns & his 5% shooting it doesn’t scare me. Exploit EK & it can be a saw off concerning him. |

Powerplay is largely setup via faceoff. Bo will still be on pp1 imo. As to the rest, maybe. But He has nothing but gone up, so i dont know if i see a dip. Maybe a levelling out. |

My prediction...
Canucks will be better than the Leafs by 2021. Fans here will amp up the hate for TSN with wall to wall homer broadcasts.
In the PO’s we will hate on the Leafs & they us so the rivalry will be epic on these blogs.
Somewhere along the line the Oilers might figure it out again i say might lol
In 2021 Canada will fully be on the map as a cup contenders helping the Jets become less prominent dare i say. |

Not a stretch at all
Canucks are already more physical and bigger than the Leafs with a better defense. Now the skill level is closing fast as well.
Leafs keep trading away 1sts and are in cap hell every year.
None of the Canadian teams worry me.

Miller's F/O%
18/19: 49.4%
18/17: 54.3% TBL
54.29% NYR
Miller is a very capable at face offs. He took a dip last season but his numbers the year before were as solid as Bo's on both his teams. Maybe he can return to that % and play #1 PP unit. Bo would really boost the 2nd unit without the threat of gutting the 1st unit like last season.
