Ferland with Petey and Boeser. Hmmm... we'll see how that looks in the preseason but as far as my gut tells me, they should load up and put Miller on that line to utilize the two amazing shots beside him.
I actually really like ferland with petey and boeser. Those two are dynamic together, ferland should provide some grit, some protection, and the ability to create some space.
Miller with bo and Pearson is a very heavy line, I think they could be deadly together.

A great one two punch with the third line swinging pillows.
Do you have Sven in the top 6? I like him there better than bottom 6. Goldy on the 4rth.
Sutter a scratch? - boonerbuck
I dont like sven in a top 6 at all. I also just hope he can play without his brain turning into scrambled eggs. Guy has a kid on the way, hope the best for him.
Goldy at 1 mill over an aging sutter at 4 all day.

To add
Bo had to prove himself in the league on the 4th, I dont think goldy should be gifted anything more. Kid has the IQ and offense to be an NHL player, so he should get thr tough "prove it" minutes and work on his two way game
Also, there will be trades. I'm hoping sven and sutter both get traded tbh

He's top 4 offense on this team. Was looking like a break out season last year as well. On pace for over 30... I can understand the concept of adding offense to the 3rd line but not even in the line up?
He's going into the season healthy. Not playing him because of injury history makes no sense especially a player as skilled as him. He's bonafide top 6... when healthy.
Goldy over Sutter? No thanks. One can play hockey, the other cant. If they trade Sutter, and I support that, I still dont see that as an option. Sutter is a bonafide NHL centre. Goldobin is a KHL winger who respectfully,,, is seeing his dwindling shot at the NHL through..

His sh% was sky high, his more realistic pace last year was 20 goals and 15 assists, not 30 goals. 20G and 15A is ok numbers for a dude getting top 6 minutes, but when it's a player like Sven who doesn't bring much else besides offense then you can see why some people aren't high on him, especially since he's injury prone.
That being said, I don't think he deserves to be scratched in this lineup, but he definitely has to earn his spot.

I will respectfully disagree that I see Sven in a top 6 role. I think he has talent, but the oft-injured winger truly is expendable imo. If the top 6 is locked, which it looks like, and we know trades are on the horizon, along with demotions and players getting listed on LTIR, we know something has to give. Goldy will be re-signed according to Benning, same with Brock, which leaves a bottom 6 of:
I have been pretty critical of Goldy's defensive game, as its probably the worst on the team amongst all forwards, I still think he has the talent to be a NHL player with his IQ and offense, he just needs to really work on the other half of his game. I think Sven and Sutter have value, and I think getting a decent pick for either of them would be beneficial.

my omitting of Sven from the lineup is purely from a value aspect of a trade. If Benning is trying to do what he said, and try and acquire some picks (probably not going to recoup that 1st like he said or hopes), I believe Sutter and Sven hold more value on the trade market than Goldy and say Leivo.

Bo didnt have to prove himself on the 4rth line at all. He started there for a whole couple of shifts before he was juggled and putting up 3rd line minutes. I clearly remember fighting this narrative at the time. His minutes with actual 4rth line players were in the neighbourhood of 4 or 5 of his very first game and he almost instantly took on a bigger role.
Goldy has been in the league for parts of 2 seasons and a rookie season last year. Wetting his feet on the 4rth line doesnt add up at all. He's played 124 games.

I really dont think there will be trades of Sven and Sutter before the beginning of the season but I can get on board no problem. I dont think Benning wants to do that early and I dont think there will be a market so omitting them from the starting line up makes little sense in my opinion.
Bennings interview with Sekeres & Price yesterday might have been the best on-air performance I've seen from him in quite a while. It ranged quite widely through topics like free agency signings, the captaincy, Petey working to get stronger, Boeser's contract, the management team structure, Miller, Olli, Goldy, LE, etc.

We will see
I think the one thing we can agree on, is having a player like sven being pushed to a bottom 6 position because of depth is a good problem to have. This roster is finally shaping up like a legit contender. Whether hes top 6, bottom 6, having offensive contributions from your bottom 6 is a good problem. I'm excited for the season

these two (Sutter, Sven) seem to be the mostly likely to be traded. Seems unlikely (to me) that it will happen by the time training camp opens...

That's my thinking. They hold value, they can play up/down the lineup, both have said to be close to 100% healthy and both are on decent cap hits that could be enticing to other teams.
Hockey IQ is such a stupid term. Goldobin might have somewhat of a decent offensive talent, but is brutal at turning pucks over in the offensive zone, with his cross ice passes and is pathetic in the neutral and defensive zones.
Not sure how that equates to him having a high hockey IQ...Elias, on the other hand, is a player with high IQ.
