Quite possible. For me, a dip in Bo's point production wouldnt be a factor whether he's the leader or not but I expect Petey to be the poster boy for the Canucks one way or another. Bure was and Linden had the C. - boonerbuck
I keep hearing this Bure/Linden thing & I really, really hate it... Bure was never a Captaincy material kind of guy... at all. I’d lay out (my opinion of) some comps for every single aspect of Pettersson’s skillset but I’ll spare us the ensuing troll invasion... I guess the people who think he’s just an arrogant little millennial with talent will have to watch & learn |

Not a stretch at all
Canucks are already more physical and bigger than the Leafs with a better defense. Now the skill level is closing fast as well.
Leafs keep trading away 1sts and are in cap hell every year.
None of the Canadian teams worry me. - Nucker101
The basis of my bold prediction is the Leafs on offence are scary but that’s about it.
On D nothing to worry about at all.
In goal no depth & nothing coming in the pipeline & 1 injury to Freddie can sink their season.
The cap management will be at the crux of it all & how Dubas gets around it. I don’t see any magic up his sleeve with how the cap is allocated. |

The kid is intelligent & ppl don’t understand this. His moxy alone gets him in the running & his skills & work ethic are above reproach for a kid his age. Bo is great on that as well & only adds to the depth of the leadership group. Appearances are just that & Petey is a leader & no doubt about that. |

On another roster building topic...
There is much to be said about the versatility JB has constructed. With JT able to play any F position & up & down the line-up is most valuable. JV & Ferland play either wing. Benn LHD can play RHD easily. When the inevitable injuries occur it will come to pass & be very key. In game TG has many options as he sees fit. |

Miller's F/O%
18/19: 49.4%
18/17: 54.3% TBL
54.29% NYR
Miller is a very capable at face offs. He took a dip last season but his numbers the year before were as solid as Bo's on both his teams. Maybe he can return to that % and play #1 PP unit. Bo would really boost the 2nd unit without the threat of gutting the 1st unit like last season. - boonerbuck
Bo is more productive offensively and a better faceoff man. It’s not like Miller is some kind pp specialist. He will great 5v5 with either bo or ep but i think the pp should be the kids |

Adding to the versatility...
My penchant for posting lines are generalized for the most part. Each opponent offers up their own challenges. Matching up game to game will happen or at least in game. The myriad of possibilities some call the blender effect. Now can TG out coach his opposite or at least utilize what he asked for & now has? |

Oh please 🙄. Miller is infinitely more compatible with a cerebral unit making the most of static spacing... It isn’t close. |

I’m not trying to come off as all knowing but here goes anyways 😂
In my competitive ball playing days as either player/coach or just a coach i used my roster to max out our chances of success. Nobody was pigeon holed. I didn’t make changes for sake of change & risk disrupting continuity. I went on knowledge & feel & lived with my choices. Nothing was written in stone & players are not just plug n play. All players go through ups & downs & a coach has to be prepared to be somewhat proactive & not be reactive as much as is reasonable. Players need to not worry & be ready & let the coach coach it’s as simple as that. It’s the crest on the front not the name on the back of the jersey. Winning is winning & that’s all that matters. |

I luv Bo but a playmaker he is not. More of a bull in a china shop. All said he is good at what he does. JT is better rounded. |

My prediction...
Canucks will be better than the Leafs by 2021. Fans here will amp up the hate for TSN with wall to wall homer broadcasts.
In the PO’s we will hate on the Leafs & they us so the rivalry will be epic on these blogs.
Somewhere along the line the Oilers might figure it out again i say might lol
In 2021 Canada will fully be on the map as a cup contenders helping the Jets become less prominent dare i say. - Nighthawk

My personal definition of a playmaker...
He has a ratio of 1/2 up to 1/4 goals/assists. Eg 25/50 15/60 20/60 etc
Extreme is Hank or Oates |

I certainly dont think he's just that at all. Like I said several times over the last couple of weeks, he needs time for that to blossom. It's too early. I even went as far to say there is so much leadership potential... it just has to be developed.
With that being said, he did show his age with signs of immaturity over his rookie season... and he's shying away from the media already. We'll just have to see what his attitude is like as he ages. People are declaring things about him like there are no question marks on the topic. I'm definitely not one of them. The opposite. I need to learn about him.

I think they are deep on D this season. After that,,, they need to sign 2/3 of a top 6 so I don't think they are keeping Barrie. It's a 1 shot at playoff success for the Leafs as it stands now.

I think you may be confused on the point I was making.... I was talking about building two good PP units by moving Bo to the 2nd unit and Miller holding the fort on face offs on EP's unit. I said this recently as well and I included trying this until EP gets better at face offs which I fully expect. There is no claim that Miller is a better PP or face off guy at all. As far as using the kids on the PP... where did I talk about removing Bo from the power play?
I'm giggling that on the same page people are confusing me both for over stating Bo, and understating Bo.

Reference was to next season & the job ahead to replace D. Only Reilly is signed.
I agree its all in for them this year. |

Chinnok are still going strong, a friend has been back at the dock by 10am with their limit of 4 15-22 lb. Going Halibut fishing next week if the wind stays away. |
