That's like taking someones order at KFC and serving them their food at McDonalds. |

Do the twitter user asking the question need to read the answer here on hockeybuzz?

shuttling a waiver exempt player back on forth could be hugely beneficial for the Leafs. If they are healthy scratches and are not on any significant road trips they don't technically need to carry 22 or 23 roster players. If they could only carry 21 players for most of the year they would actually have a bit of cap space for a minor deadline acquisition if they felt they needed one.
oh ya. i've signed marner to 5 years 10.5 |

he could be good for 25. That seems like a good estimate. lots of lineup opportunity over there in senator land and c brown is a very good player. |

Brown is an nhl player, but to call him a very good nhl player is a stretch. I'd say he's pretty average. I would reserve the label of "very good" for a much higher quality of player than connor brown. |

Since when is a player who averages 32 points per season a very good nhl player? |

spezza might be too slow to play 4C so he'll be replaced by the goat? So we think the goat is faster than spezza? |

Spezza will take the draw and run to the wing a lot IMO. |

I think a lot of the negativity directed towards Brown is in contrast to the idiotic ravings about him from one particular user.
If you look at Brown's three years, he did have a 20 goal season, but he put up a near 15% shooting percentage. Last year he was around 9% which is low.
If you consider increased opportunity which I'd think would lead to a career high around 150-160 shots and a return to average shooting percentage of around 12%, he could end up in that 18-20 goal range again.
He's not a bad player, but he had a bad year. There will be times that his work ethic will be missed. I'd be surprised if he got into that 25 goal range. I just don't think the supporting cast is there on Ottawa to afford him that opportunity. |

He played lower in the lineup last year for the most part as well. Classic example of a cap casualty. He's a good 3rd liner in most teams, just not a team that has Marner, Melander, and Kappy in front of him. Watch for Ottawa to flip him for a player with a lower dollar than cap hit salary and a pick by the deadline. |

I agree that he was a cap casualty. I think this is the the Versteeg gamble for Ottawa.
We think he has enough talent that when played up in the line-up, he can produce like a 2nd line player but the former team was so deep that his role was diminished. It didn't work for Versteeg. It's not likely to work for Brown. But I really do hope he has success. I liked that he played hard and his giveapoopometer was usually dialed up. |
