fantastic signing by Ottawa. Ohhhh boy, things are not looking great for Winnipeg. All of that talent and poof, gone. Gotta think Chevy's job is on the chopping block. |

I think Point will win a cup and could be a hall of fame player some day. It's just a matter of whether that is with us or someone else. This is Brisebois first big signing and he is trying to continue what Yzerman had going on, unfortunately he doesn't carry the same name. |

Does anyone else find it odd how the contract is structured? First 3 years are relatively low totalling 18m, followed by the highest paying years, then one average?
It's like he wanted a few cheap years first? Very different than everyone else's contract structures. All the big stars are getting paid big dollars up front with lots of signing bonuses.
Nice to see Melnyk finally pay someone. Chabot has one big (not full) year. I wonder if he can live up to an $8M cap hit. I'm sure Sens fans think so, but I don't think it's a slam dunk he can. |

If you look closely the low average is the result of the third year cramp down to minimize the impact of a strike or lock out on the expiration of the current agreement between the NHL and NHLPA.
I thought that it was a pretty clever wrinkle to a thorny complication that was created just a few days ago on the announcement that the agreement had been expended by another three years. 7 7 4 8 10 10 10 8
I think it is a better dollars on the short team deal (3 years) thantWerenski and McEvoy signed. And, at the same time, a better deal than Provorov signed as a longer deal (6 Years) |

I saw the third year. So he's worried about having to pay salary without revenue?
The contract pays less than those guys because they have a longer, better track record. He hasn't proven as much. So he's not worth as much. He's got one big year so far, and it wasn't even complete. |

Sorry but your firing blanks again. Chabot get more short term than McEvoy and significantly more long term than Provorov.
Not getting your point?

If you look at it that way, it's a bad contract.
He got more than McAvoy because it includes UFA years, and he's done after that. He also gave up more UFA years than Provorov. Had McAvoy and/or Provorov signed for 8 years, they would have obviously gotten higher AAV. How much more? Who knows. More than Chabot, most likely. If they signed for the same, they'd be better contracts than Chabots, especially Mcavoy, because he's a lot better, and has proven much more.
the Bruins didn't go past a bridge because their salary structure. Not really too sure about the Flyers and why.
Or, was your point that the actual dollars paid over the first 3 years is lower than Werenski and McAvoy in their 3 years? If that's your point, and trying to point to that as it being a better contract, again, McAvoy is, to this point in their carreers, well ahead of Chabot. Werenski is as well, but to a lesser extent. |

Petry/Suzuki is too much to give up. The guy is turning into a major pain in the a$$. Or he just wants out of the Peg. Either way heβs turning high maintenance. Rather have Connor. |

Did you buy those homer glasses at Amalie Arena, or did Brayden personally come to your house and sell them to you himself? |

All non-Sens fans: I guarantee Chabot will not be a Sen next year. Melnyk will never pony up what he's worth.
One week later...
All non-Sens fans: Chabot isn't worth 8x8. |

Nope.
It's a fair contract. More importantly, it's encouraging your owner actually signed a contract worth more than league min. It's also encouraging to Sens fans he signed for 8 years.
But looking at it realistically, Chabot has one good year under his belt, and it wasn't a complete year. If spazzo is going to try to use McAvoy, Werenski, and Provorov as comparables, that's not very smart, because those guys have proven a lot more, and McAvoy by a wide wide margin.
This could turn out to be a great contract, but I think it's pretty much market, and could easily turn out to be nothing special. This coming season will probably tell a fair bit about which one it might be. |
