That's fine, my point is more to the hate/anger at him now over a statement. Not everyone has a degree in English, and sometimes it's easy to make a mistake in wording what your trying to get across.
- onesmallleap

There was no mistake in his wording. “You people who come here, like to eat our milk and honey”...

Can everyone shut the (frank) up about cherry and politics! Thanks! It’s (frank)ing annoying you betas. Great win! NAS played hard but they got it done. Hopefully the some slumps are over

There are likely things placed in his contract covering conduct etc. Not sure the constitution covers him there. We don't know these details yet.

I liked your points though. Made me think about it. Realized PC now holds more weight than constitutional rights which is f*cked

Every organization now has a social media policy you need to sign as a condition of employment. Say/do stupid poop and post it on social media, get fired. A media organization is double trouble.

No kidding, cherry is an idiot. Other teams are playing us harder this year, it's not an easy 2 points playing us this year.

Normally I would never recommend this, but it's times like these, a bit of listerine and bath salts just might take the edge off.

Pacific is heating up. Sharks pounded the Oil haven't lost on their home stand since Canucks beat them. Yotes kick their losing streak beating tops in league Caps and Blues in shoot outs. Yotes take the 2nd spot away from Canucks who have to keep it going at home.

Did horvat really play 27 minutes tonight? That’s impressive.

More minutes cause he covered for Sutter injury in 1st. Also notice the poppy planting brought the Canucks back to wins.

Public opinion has definitely gotten out of hand. It's been growing for years as people see more and more consequences as a result of social media attacks. What's most messed up about it is how many have realized they have the power to bring others down and relish in doing so.

I think just about anyone would agree with and disagree with several socia media take downs of public figures, but the fact that it can happen overnight with all your average joes playing judge jury and executioner is scary.

So many people have had their lives screwed because of social media.

You are absolutely right about this. Cherry may actually have a case against sportsmen saying his firing was against his constitutional rights.

Essentially PC has somehow superseded the constitution, which is crazy

- SMBDragon

He doesn’t have a constitutional right to free speech in this context when he is employed to represent the interests of Coaches Corner / HNIC / Sportsnet. In their determination, what he said was offensive and against their code of conduct.

Whether their determination is “right”, too “politically correct” or not, is a matter for their leadership, audience and advertisers to determine. The rest of us just have random opinions.

Mine is similar to Vantel’s...I see him speaking a patriotic sentiment and Sportsnet didn’t do enough to protect him / them from his tendency to rant. I don’t agree with what he said (all of us are immigrant peoples in Canada, just a matter of when we arrived), nor am I going to miss him as a TV personality or commentator on hockey.

FWIW, Section 2 of the Constitution deals with freedom of expression and also the limits on that freedom relating to obscenity, hate and defamation. We don’t have unfettered rights to “free speech” in Canada like you are suggesting.

The western world has become way too over sensitive. Especially word wise.
Makes you wonder if he'd still have his job if he'd beat someone on camera

What's up with Sutter? Can we put him on the Tanev-Edler train out of town? Or is he injured yet again...

The Blues just won a cup after losing 3 in a row multiple times during the season.

Edit: Just checked and they had 3 different three game losing streaks

They never lost a 4th straight game though so tonight is a must win!

- Nucker101

Canucks lost 4, plus did the Blues bounce back after losing to bad teams like the hawks?

The guy can't even take a normal stride without fawking himself up - it wouldnt surprise me if he's out for months and it wouldn't surprise me if anyone gave a single fawk. Open a permanent spot for Gaudette.

Doubt they call up Graovac as he just got back into the lineup - rather see Zack/Bailey

- Brooks_Light

Zack has a sore wrist and got back from injury the same time as Graovac or a game earlier. After the last game they gave their sweaters to vets and you could see Zacks wrist still heavily taped.

Bailey is my second option.
