games tonight tomorrow and sunday
hopefully he plays a lot better - jimbro83
I am at the point where I wouldn't even care if he just went back to Sweeden to play hockey for his career and we never heard about him again |

He dragged some really not-all-that-special Rangers teams pretty damn deep in the playoffs a lot of years. I'm really not someone to get all that attached to players in general, but implying that he's doing the organization/fans any sort of disservice by not volunteering to tear up the NMC in his contract that he earned ten times over is just nonsense. - eichiefs9
agreed, those people are weird |

It's still a business. If greats like Gretzky, Messier and Leetch and many others can be traded so can lundqvist.
It's not personal Sonny, hits just business. |

None of them had a NMC/NTC. If he did not have one as well it probably would have happened already.

Agreed. It's a moot point, it's not gonna happen. But people are naive if they think he hasn't been asked to waive a couple of times. |

I mean, him choosing to utilize the NMC he earned is also just business. So wouldn't that nullify your complaint?

There are bunch of Rangers fans on twitter who despise Hank. i get his play has dipped, but hes been the best player for over a decade. They actually try and sell that hes selfish and that his teammates hate him. At this point I think they just do it for clicks - nyrangers2
You can’t fix stupid! The shame of it is the only thing he did wrong is not winning a cup.He is a lock for the hall of fame he has been a GREAT ranger for a long time and to me he gets to do whatever he wants and I get the feeling the organization feels the same way. |

Trying to make a point. A buyout costs money, imagine going to your boss and say "I need a few million to let this guy go even though he isnt that bad, cause we need space" Im sure your boss would say make it work. - Brukie
And I'm sure my boss is not the President or General Manager of an NHL franchise worth $1.55 BILLION. So, I guess your analogy is kinda dumb. |

No my analogy isnt kinda dumb, its your way of thinking. Yes the Rangers are valued at 1.5 bil but their net profits are between 50-70 mil a year roughly. Lets take the average of 60 mil in profit. Buying out Hank is about 5mil. So that 5 mil is 8.3 percent of your profit for the year. Doesnt matter how much money you make. There isnt a company on this planet that will say, "Nah its of its only an 8 percent loss"
So to you my analogy is kinda dumb but in the real world its not bad. |

Yea he was the 13th forward the other night.
I know this name is banned on this board, but how does JT Miller have 29 points in 29 games - nyrangers2
Bc contrary to what people on this board think he’s a good hockey player. He became the whipping boy on this team at 22 years old |

I watch a lot of Canuck game being on the west coast. He loves it in Vancouver and he’s counted on for being a vet. He’s playing the role given to him very well, seems to have cut down on dumb penalties also. So far the Canuck fans love him. |

He was a guy I was actually hoping the Isles would pick up, he'd have fit in perfectly here. I thought VAN overpaid initially, if I'm being honest, but as it turns out that clearly wasn't the case. |

For where Vancouver is in their rebuild I think maybe the first would of been more help. They gave a 1st to a cap struggling team Time will tell |

Ok, let’s say that’s all true.
Problem is your analogy and it’s explanation are in a bubble. Outside of that bubble, moving on from Hank and bringing up Shesty signifies the start of a new era, reinvigorates the fan base, excites the team and ultimately increases revenues, making a single payment of $5M irrelevant.
Now let me close my part of this discussion by saying that I don’t want to see a buyout of Lundqvist. I think that on top of the fact it will NEVER happen, it’s just a bad idea. For team, cap and branding reasons. |

Got to agree with that. How do other players (free agents) look at the rangers and see they forced, probably their best player in decades, out the door.
If anything happens, it all has to be on Hanks timeline |

I can't see them buying out Hank. If they keep Georgie, give Shesty a shot and he plays up to his potential, that leaves us in quite a pickle. I think they somehow convince Shesty to stay in Hartford this season and split goaltending duties next season. Haven't figured out the logistics, but somehow it will work.
Or they just trade Georgie |
