like Jan said, Lundqvist was under weather yesterday and wasn't even on the bench, wonder if he's able to be backup tonight?

I think people said we are getting a third liner. Which we were. I think he is a great teammate with enough skill and grit to go up and down the line-up, but I'm with Jan on this one, optimally he would be part of a great 3rd line.

Kind of like the Zuke/Brass/Pouliot line years back

I mean, wouldn't it be more optimal if he was part of a great 1st line? That means he's playing better than expected and someone we pegged for a higher line is playing against weaker competition.

I'd say a lot less dangerous, still probably dooshy to opposing players/fans

There's nothing wrong if he winds up as part of an energy scoring 3rd line when we are contending. You do have to wonder though if what Wilson is doing for the Caps is sort of going to be a throwback prototype for teams to employ in the future. I think I've seen 48 have more scoring chops than any of us thought he'd have, and he might be really useful to flank Chytil/Zib, Kakko on the top line.

I guess that's what happens when you take a senseless penalty on your 1st shift.

Yeah, but thought he was good on the PK yesterday. Plus, give the guy a shot and this hopefully means McKegg is ready, but Haley is still around...

Yeah, this is one of the more perplexing events of the season. The guy brings very little to the table and never gets more than a handful of shifts. What's the point???

Well it depends. I don't think he has the skill set for a 1st line player. I love players like him, don't get me wrong, but I would like to see a a more skilled player on the 1st line down the road.

Yeah can't argue with that. Wilson has found a spot on that 1st line with the Caps, that he wouldn't probably have on most teams.

Looks like McKegg-Howden-Smith on fourth line and must mean Staal is back tonight.

I would say he has just as much skill as Adam Graves. Don't get me wrong, Graves was awesome as a Ranger, but his skill set never screamed first liner.... yet here he is with his # retired, after playing on the first line.

If the Playoffs were seeded 1-8 like they should be:

Washington Capitals
Boston Bruins
New York Islanders
Philadelphia Flyers
Carolina Hurricanes
Pittsburgh Penguins
New York Rangers
Florida Panthers
---------------------------
Buffalo Sabres
Montreal Canadiens
Toronto Maple Leafs
Tampa Bay Lightning
Columbus Blue Jackets
Ottawa Senators

I get what you are saying, though i think Graves had a ton of skill. I think a better comparison would be a better Todd Harvey. I was going to say Verbeek, but I think that wouldn't be a fair comparison either.

What exactly do you think Quinn meant by this;

Quinn, when asked what he saw from Lemieux to give him the top-six minutes that he deserved for his recent play, said, “Just his consistency effort. I think he creates space for his linemates. He’s got the skill, enough skill to complement his hardness and speed. You know. If I’m a (player), I want Brendan Lemieux on my line.”

Gravey had the best hands in front of the net in the dirty areas I might have ever seen. And that was at a time where it was a free for all if you were in front of the crease. I don't think Lemieiux has that but, yeah I would agree with the similarities.

Still have no idea why they changed that. 1-8 is so easy

They wanted to force rivalries, which I guess makes sense when all things are equal, but when 5 teams in the Metro are ahead of the 2nd place team in the Atlantic, it looks stupid.
