Reminded me of the Flyers/Leafs game 3 weeks ago. Tight 1-1 game in the third. Flyers take the lead. When they score the third goal the Leafs pack their bags. They flat out quit playing and leave the goalie out to dry for a 6-1 loss. Total lack of character. Was Trouba scratched last night?

That rangers effort reminded me a lot of the flyers teams under Dave Hakstol. Questions like “what system are they even playing?” would come up quite often and the proper answers would always seem elusive. It looks to me like the same combination of 2 things:

1. players not responding to/respecting the coach
2. incorrect system for the combination of said players

Believe me, as a pure hater of dave haksol, it was excruciating to witness those teams under his (lack thereof) tutelage. It’s amazing what the ideal coach and system can do for a particular group of players.

Given how poorly Trouba played, it might not have been the worst thing if he was.

I'm not sure I'd entirely agree that the Rangers were outplayed. On the scoreboard certainly, but not on the ice.

I saw several long stretches where NY controlled the puck in the Flyers zone, and if not for Hart, could have easily had a goal or two. It reminded me of some Ranger/Flyer games I've seen over the past few years, when we just could NOT get the puck out of our zone.

Having said that, I can't speak for Quinn and his system. In the few Ranger games I've seen this year, the players DO seem to be out of position quite often. Us Flyer fans know that frustration you guys must be feeling ... we dealt with Hakstol for far, far too long.

I was all aboard the Trouba train, but he seems to be missing that snarl he used to play with.

Merry Xmas -Happy Hanukah ...if time allows take a read on S B nation about the top10 trades made by the NYR since 2010...
like i say we have been much better traders than builders with draft picks , I see us needing 2 major pieces in a top 3 rt wing to replace Buchny's slot If you move Krieds then you need 2 slots filled in top 6 .A top left D opposite Trouba & we will have a real shot of competing for P O's.Doughty bio info on age /contract right there in L A roster info... regardless he was an example of the type we must get to start the winning , prospects take time with out guarantees, we have a very strong resume in trades & I cant wait to hear the next But i see from end of freeze to T D as the BIG moves to solidify the team for now & tomorrow . we know the cast of available talent & the NEW CORE of 8 to 10 some on merit of potential only yet we have to wait & see
Others i have seen enough and know there should be trades with them going & the talent picked coming back.

Merry Xmas or Happy Hanukah or Happy Holidays to everyone!!

S B Nation has the top ten WORST trades of the decade.

Your Christmas list includes a top 3 winger a top 6 winger and a top defense man??

Im sure Santa is working on that as we speak and will be delivered once the trade freeze is over.

I know DD bio info, makes me puke, he is a 30+ player with an 11mil cap hit.

Just tell me how you figure to fit him under the cap even if JG was dumb enough to make that move??
