Sure he has to be aware of the Markstrom contract situation but 18 months is a long time to sort things through. And is Demko the best goalie choice for Seattle, maybe Hart is available, or Subban or maybe Soderstrom or Sorokin, could be lots of other goalies to choose from.

Hart will be protected, althiugh they may take Elliott. I have t othink JB will make a trade to either protect his goalies or trade one of them before the draft. Just too much value to give away as it stands. Maybe they agree with Jacob to re sign after the draft and let him go UFA? really not sure, good question. IS Demko not protected as he is techinically a rookie stil this year?

Yes. The next crop of UFA's this summer to round out the PO roster for next season's run. Our goaltending won't matter with the team so well rounded out.

Thinking on goalies, depending who else we have to expose...I don’t think they risk it on demko.

With Vegas teaching anything you want an experienced, stable goalie to start. They will go for a sure thing in goal IMO.

Ahh I see so the AHL years count toward it, plain and simple. That is a bummer. Yes I believe they will either trade Marky or trade a pick/player to protect Demko. If there is only one of the two next year, I would think despite the concussions Demko has shown he has serious potential. Could get a pretty good payoff for Marky from a team like Columbus methinks.

Columbus would be good to trade Marky. Yeah according to the NHL it's 1st and 2nd year NHL players are exempt. Next year would be Demko's 3rd year I think even though he only played 9 games last year?

I think we’re in a pretty good spot overall. If we lose demko, we have market for the next 3-5 years. And back ups are not that hard to find in UFA or trade.

Not a chance Demko is left unprotected IMO, much like Cory Schneider this is Demko's first full year in the NHL at the age of 24 (just turned Dec 8th), he's being groomed to take over as a starter.

I believe next year Demko's gonna be the starter and Markstrom's going to be traded or left to walk as a UFA. Demko's got a few rookie tendencies in his game but the kids a good goaltender, he's almost ready now, next year he'll be the starter with an experienced backup.

Edler has a NMC. He and myers are the choices. Tanev is a bit of a layup after those two. I'm not convinced EP or Gaudette need protection, but am going to read the e-draft stuff again.
