One other thing I forgot to mention:
With just one game on the NHL schedule tonight, it's a perfect opportunity to catch some WHL action on Sportsnet.
Canucks prospects Jett Woo & Carson Focht of the Calgary Hitmen will face the Edmonton Oil Kings at 6 p.m. PT. |

I am starting to get a good feeling about the team. I do think this team can beat the best teams or at least be in the fight. I think we are at the beginning of seeing good things.
I still think we are a piece or two away from a top 5 team but it is nice to see us playing entertaining hockey in the 12 spot. |

Pettersson is a good pick for all stars but I'm shocked that hughes isnt selected doing as well as he has in the rookie race. |

Hoglander next year in the top 6 vs Louie should help. Not quite sure if he's the piece we need or if he'd even be in the top 6 to start the year. I like the kid. |

I didn't include Pod because he's still 2 years away with Russia. Hoglander I think they were originally talking about him being on the team this year? |

Burns makes it and has played like garbage all year. Makar makes it and hughes and him are neck and neck. Hughes wasnt even on the short list for guys to vote for, bit bizarre if you ask me. How the hell do two sharks make it?! |

The game is in st.louis. The other two la teams only have one guy in the game. The politics is of course marketing driven, but still complete horsepoop |

I wouldn't be counting on them to fix the problems. Rookies rarely impact a team unless they are outstanding. |

Czechs push the US to overtime before Goal Caufield does his thing to earn the win.
That's a big point for the Czechs, though - and the Canucks' Karel Plasek earns player of the game! |

I don't disagree. I do think Hoglander has the skill, hope he gets the opportunity. |

I'm cheering for all the Canucks prospects. Glad that pod is doing great. He'll do great if he keeps the Ruschian machine attitude. |

Thanks Carol for the great reading all year, really look forward to each post!
Two things,
First the all star game has become so inconsequential for most players and fans, it is more like a sponsor event so the representatives always include a few head scratchers. Most of us here have expressed little desire to watch and have limited interest in the event besides the skills competition.
Jake is a player I have had confidence that he would figure it out for a long time, and he seems to be getting it. I agree with a few posts from last blog that the influence of JT Miller cannot be overstated. JT doesn't play a traditional power forward game but has a lot of the attributes of a power forward. I think that this is what Jake will end up being. I think the hype coming out of Junior for him was the big hits and not that he scored 45 goals with a great release and speed.
I am enjoying the growth for him and that line is fun to watch |
