Remember the Vegas game win as the turning point. They are growing as a team in finding ways to win. If they keep the set backs down morphing into a playoff team is in the cards. - NuckUp

He had a decent rookie season then went on to finish 1st and 2nd in scoring for the Sabres the following two seasons. Played 360 games before having to retire. Back problems were post draft.
I thought it was a strange comparison for prospects in the WJC as well. Hodgson went on to continue scoring after the WJC. Does this mean Podz might continue to struggle to produce offence when he makes NHL? - boonerbuck
I think it was a throwaway line to say that even when players are talented at a young age, it doesn't mean that they will be the locks for success that they might seem. But it's definitely not a comparable and Hodgson didn't end up retiring from a lack of talent. |

I agree with all of that. I agree with the point Vantel was trying to make as well. Just a strange comparison.

Podz is playing on multiple teams in changing roles at the same time its not a formula for production. If this gives him the building blocks to play at the NHL level then he can produce as a Canuck in a role that allows for consistent offence. |

Tbh i’m not impressed with his line mates feeding off of Podk. I see him as a Bob Gainey type of player. |

Who knows... What I do know is over and over the ideas about why and what needs to be done and what people hope goes against the trend sure looks like "project player" who needs to be taught something that doesn't come natural. That just has a later pick feel to me. That and him being stuck in the KHL sure seem like a lot to overcome at 10oa. I'll still be happy if he finds a lesser role of a later pick at the same time as being disappointed in the gamble with the 10oa. I'd rather see those gambles later.

I see a Tanner Pearson forechecking type. A 3rd liner who will get top 6 min if there is a lack of top 6 wingers. Play style is similar. Aggressive and in the goalies face. Good depth.

I feelya other than we look to have enough scoring depth but not the intangibles other playing styles bring. Lind & Hoagie gotta produce at the next level once ready. With Madden looking like a gem & Rathbone doing great i think we have many pieces & variety for long term success. |

I see us going 3 lines strong & TOI fought for on merit. 4th line for PK & dirty work. Idk if many other teams look quite so deep as we do. |

Canucks drafted him 10 th OA he ended up scoring 17 g 35 pts for Canucks
Traded for Kassian who as a Canuck scored 31 G 56 Pts
Not a lot of production for a top 10 pick. |

Cody Hodgson had 19g and 41p in his rookie season. Not elite but that is just fine for a 10oa. He scored a lot in the WJC and continued to produce in the NHL. Other parts of his game are worth criticising but the offence comparison is not a good one at all.

Hodgson scored 17 G and 18 A total 35 pts as a Canuck. That is a waste of a 10 th OA in my opinion. |

A lot of things can happen from the time a player is drafted to the time he finishes his career with the team that drafted him |

Kind of ironic we need a guy like Kassian. |

Juolevi is the present day Bryan Allen, except minus the 721 games, that’s a waste of a 5th overall pick, if we’re talking wasted picks.
Not as bad as Josh Holden, Jason Herter or Dan Woodley though |

It was unfortunate kassian was an even bigger female dog. His coke problem was off the grid and he was an embarrassment |

He wouldn’t have here. He would be a crack head in the east end. Good for him. |
