Pens have had a good run as of late, beat some good teams and they're going to have some stinkers. No real reason to over-analyze this game.

Luckily the Isles, Flyers and Canes all lost tonight, so there hasn't been much movement in the standings.

The real win tonight was no injuries.

Bruins with the 3D chess play tonight of having an overly long ceremony for Tuukka Rask before the game (which he wasn't even playing in) that put all of our players to sleep. Gotta respect it.

I'm just glad Horny didn't get concussed in that fight. If I were him, I would have refused and let Krug get an instigator or roughing (which we know wouldn't happen). There was no reason to fight and it only helped Boston. Generally I'll trade a forward for a defenseman, but not in this case.

I am concerned that the Pens have a mental problem playing against Boston and Washington. They seem to play tentative and scared. BOS and WAS know this so their guys start running around like crazy and the next thing you know we are playing on our heels instead of our toes.

This had a feel of a loss where GMJR feels compelled to knee-jerk trade for some grit

There are rumors out of Vegas that Ryan Reaves may be available....which to be fair as I sit here thinking of it. I wouldn't mind trading Galchenyuk with salary retained for him.

As the game wore on, the B's 2-1 lead felt like 3-1 or 4-1... the Pens just could not generate anything of substance... until well into the 3rd. Our PK is absolutely solid, while the PP pretty much sucked. It just felt like one of those games where the puck was just NOT going to cross the goal line, no matter what the Pens did, and everyone's timing seemed off.

Maybe a bit of a let down after the drubbing of the Wild and Sid scoring 24 seconds in. Glad to get out of there with no injuries for sure. Gotta love Horny.

The ship has definitely sailed on Reaves, not to mention it would be a waste of a roster spot and salary. However, if we're trading for a forward, I wouldn't mind getting a hard-hitting, in-your-face power forward. Come playoff time, the Pens will get pushed around by the Caps and Bruins and the refs will swallow their whistles even more than they do now. I know people will say that's not how we won the Cup, but those teams were faster than anyone else which is not the case anymore.

But, I know with a Sully-coached team, this is never going to happen. Even when we do get grit they get neutered into worthlessness. The only question that remains is how many players we will lose to injury from unpenalized cheap shots if we make it far enough to play the Caps and/or Bruins. In the back of your mind, you know this is true. Just think of the fragility on this Pens roster. You don't think teams will be taking runs?

It's rough and tumble games like last night's that might make one wish we had a guy like Reaves in the line-up. And even looking forward a bit to all the games with the Caps still on the schedule. That said, I agree with most of what you said, and I'm good with the roster the way it is... well... once Jake and Dumo return.

That was a long time ago and the Caps have won the Cup more recently. To me, that is more relevant than what the Pens did 3-4 years ago.

16-17-18 Pens Pens Caps, so much more recently. It was one game last night.

We'll see. I think it's lazy, though, to take what a team did 3+ years ago and apply it to now. After the first goal, we got physically intimidated and played meekly the rest of the way. Other teams know this. It's exactly what happened in 2018 against the Caps.

Racking up points against average to below average teams in the regular season is fine. But playoffs are a different animal and I don't know that the Pens will be up to the task. I don't think this Pens team has superior talent and superior speed like they had in their past Cup runs. They have been playing great together as a team, but I just don't know that they're the kind of playoff-style team that will get it done when push comes to shove.

We had a bad game against one of the best teams in the league and it was still kind of close. You all need to relax.

For real. Tampa lost to Min last night. Losses happen to good teams and bad teams. Sometimes you just play poorly for a game or two and that’s all it means.

Not all, just some. And the boys started what appeared to be a comeback halfway through the 3rd. Encouraging.

With San Jose being pretty much out of it, their going to take offers. I'd offer a package for Kane. Dude plays hard and doesnt take poop. Did I mention he's good at scoring goals? Idk what it would take to get him but I'm sure San Jose would be interested in Addison. No?

Kane plays too reckless for my taste. I love his edge but he just takes too many costly penalties.

You would want 5 more years at 7m per for a head case?

Let's be honest, it wouldn't be the first headcase theyve had. I'm sure we could use him for a year 2 and then trade him after. He doesnt seem like hes the type to just fall off and be garbage.

Watch out Feds. You're starting to lean into old hockey head mentality talking about head cases. Kane, Zucker.

Pens should acquire both Evander Kane and Reaves and play them on the same line.
