Yeah but with regards to the conference they were the 4th seed. - MattStrat
Okay. So...??? Not sure where you're going here.
Edit: Just saw that was from 2015. |

Yeah, the original post was about the Presidents Trophy. What Vic (and that article) is talking about is actual playoff seeding, not 1 to 30/31 in terms of overall standings. |

Eh I’m talking about both. People tend to also not want to win the devision sometimes too, although that’s mostly because of match up reasons than superstition like the President’s Trophy. |

President's Trophy is the regular season championship. Like the FA Cup in football.
Still a great great achievement. |

Stanley Cup would be like winning the Champions' League in football. |

Yes, but the original post wasn't.
The Pens are now challenging for 1st in the Metro which would put them in the running for the President's Trophy which is the kiss of the death. I'd love 1st in the metro, but not win the President's Trophy. - Rinosaur |

This team’s style reminds me of the ‘16 cup team, but may actually be better. They’ve played like that a majority of this season instead of figuring it out later. My only concern is losing steam late in the season. This is not an easy style of play to keep up. - Rinosaur
This team is just extremely well coached and they have the younger legs now to play this style around their stars.
Someone pointed out earlier maybe it's time to pull back on the GMJR hate because outside if the Kessel dump he's been on a roll (and watch POJ becone a stud defenseman). But that goes double for Sully, they made the right choice sticking with him and giving him a roster he can play his style with. |

I agree but the season isn't over and we only beat up on Minn, last night... Tomorrow is a real test.
I will completely admit that I felt the team would be much much worse than it is now. I don't recall reading anyone else that felt otherwise....

I’m wondering how big of an issue Guerin was in the bad direction the team took the pervious two years because Rutherford seems back on track in a very big way. Excluding dumping Kessel for the sake of just getting him off the team, the direction we took during the offseason and so far this season in getting faster and younger has been very intentional as opposed to just throwing a bunch of poop at the wall and going vaguely for “character guys” and “toughness”. |

I almost felt bad for Minnesota's 5 defensemen. You have to contain Sid and Geno on 2 separate lines. Then you have to deal with the in your face Blueger line. And when you think you get a break against the 4th line you have to deal with Hornqvist.
Tough for any defense and Minnesota's is real good. Love the waves this team can attack with. |

That team looks dominant. They went through a tough scoring drought and their goaltending hasn't been good. This seems like a really bad move. |

Yes on both. I think Sullivan deserves a ton of credit for pulling his GM back in line with a brand of hockey that wins in the modern day NHL.
They had the play-by-play guy for Wilkes on the fan the other day. He said POJ is really playing well. With injuries and call-ups he's been pushed into a bigger role and handling it well. |

What was the prettier pass? Malkins sick no look to Rusty or Sid passing to himself that led to Simon's tap in? |

Sid's was much better in tight quarters, but I'm still trying to figure out how Malkin even knew where to pass, let alone do it. |

Agree on Sid's pass.
Geno's comments on his....
“I couldn’t see him,” he said. “It was just a hope pass. But I felt he was behind me.” |

The Pens have given up 3 goals in the last 4 games... This is starting to concern me. Granted, the last Wild goal was with 20 seconds to go, but I think it need addressed. There's no way we can outgun to win a seven game series with a Washington, Boston, or Tampa... |

3 goals in 4 games is less than a goal a game |
