Did you happen to read Vigneault's comments on Gostisbehere when they learned he would be out with an injury?

Can you share? I didn't see and curious to hear what AV said.

To paraphrase he said he liked Gostisbehere's game and how he was defending and transitioning the puck and that they would miss his play.

after that terrible road trip this 4 game stretch could have really buried the Flyers. to get 6 out of 8 points against Washington, Tampa, Boston and at St Louis is outstanding. stating the obvious, can't let up tonight against Montreal.

the Flyers really need to find consistency (again stating the obvious). I guess with a young team you get inconsistency, esp on defense. you see games where Sanheim and Myers have outstanding games then you have games like last night where they struggle. on the Faulk goal there was no need for Myers to go sliding into the corner. that was Provorov's guy. but that said, once he did, I really would have liked to see provorov not compound the issue by following into the corner. watching the replay, to me, Provorov had plenty of time to back out and cover the blue in front of the net allowing Giroux to cover Faulk. Felt Sanheim played the O'Reilly goal badly as well.

I agree that the tip pass was sweet, but I actually think he was trying to redirect it on goal, as opposed to sending it across to TK. I could be wrong, though. Either way...LOVE the result!
- SgtMikal

based on the angle of the stick i really believe that was a set play and pass. I think everyone on the blues expected JVR to take that pass from Giroux and do his usual spin to the net and take the shot. Caught everyone off guard

What he really indicated was that he had been liking Ghost's game LATELY, indicating short term improvement on what has been a season of mostly criticisms of his game.

I have to agree. The holding call on Raffl was a BS call. Raffl and Schwartz were battling for position in a puck battle and Schwartz went down. It wasn't a hold. Also the slashing call on Aube-Kubel I believe was also a weak call. It was a love tap and a player needs to hold onto his stick better than that. Couturier took a nasty cross check while being down on the ice that should've been called.
- MJL

that call on Raffl infuriated me. and yes on all of the above

You posted that Gostisbehere doesn't fit with AV. Those recent comments by the coach contradict that.

Some of the vets are starting to play consistently better too. Raffl hasn't looked out of place in top 6 recently and Jake has been playing at a high level recently (imo). If we can get G going, watch out. Not sure if he's a little banged up or just low in confidence, but i've seen some hesitation in his play offensively in the last few games. This isn't a knock on G either, I love the guy and he helps in other areas in the game besides points.

Bill I disagree with Hayes being responsible for that 3rd goal. NAK was with steen battling against the boards and then just let him go on that play of the wall right into the slot where he got that pass and walked in on Elliott. To me NAK didnt play that properly

I dont think NAK expected Myers to vacate the front of the net and chase the puck behind the net

It is so refreshing to root for a team with a competent PK. The cynical part of me immediately thought the Flyers were toast when all those penalties were being called, especially the long 5 on 3. I guess I had just come to expect that after the past few seasons. I love the more aggressive strategy. Not only more effective, but much more entertaining to watch

Stewart would have

New team Motto should be WWSD "What Would Stewart Do?"

Just a guess: several weeks of reasonably consistent games would get him back up.

if he can build on last night, I would think you are right or if Bunnaman play drops off

At the very least this year we can say they’ve been a good overtime team. I’d be interested to see their puck possession stats in OT...they do a good job at maintaining possession through multiple shifts.

By my count, the Flyers are now 4-1 in games decided in OT. Of course, they've had 10 other games not decided that went to the stupid shootout.

Is it just coincidence that the Flyers lose the "D" pairing of Ghost and Braun and are forced to put Hagg back in and bring up Friedman and make them the third pair and ever since they have beaten some pretty good teams and lost 1-0 to another.
I would like for the Flyers to keep Hagg in the lineup as he brings a little grit that they otherwise lack and Friedman seems to be more steady than Ghost or Braun.
Why not move Ghost and Braun out to bring in a little scoring help. Toronto and Montreal are two teams looking for help on the back end.

This defense is really young Friedman and Hagg are 24 and Myers, Provorov and Sanheim 23. I think I personally would keep Braun.

Like Nak's game, better skater than I expected, he makes some bad reads but he is a rookie. I hope he can keep up his level of play. He would look real good on a 4th line when the Flyers are healthy.

It's important to understand a teams systems play when assigning blame to a player on a goal or scoring chance against. Puck location is a factor in determining responsibility. Watch how the team plays.

of course but once player A makes a mistake you don't want to see player B compound the error if they could have done something differently. Obviously sometimes the play happens too fast to make another decision.

Yea, the goal tying it 3-3 was really a breakdown by almost every Flyer on the ice. Myers abandons netfront, NAK lets Steen off the board too easy, Hayes stayed too high in the slot and should have seen he needed to help down. EZ PZ goal for the Blues on that one

An example is your comment that Provorov should've covered for Myers. In my opinion that was not possible.

I disagree 100%. Provorov had plenty of time to back out. he compounded Myers bad play by charging at the Blue holding the puck).

While we're at it, this team which has been terrible in the road just beat the defending champs on the road with Stewart and Elliott instead of Farabee and Hart. Coincidence?

We're obviously better without Farabee and Hart, let's ship them out for some scoring help.

Being in the metro sucks

Florida and Toronto get to pick on the sabres, red wings, and senators for easy points

All we have is the devils as bottom feeders
