You’re going to get a lot of advice on sound. to some, sound is everything. To me it’s not as important as picture quality. Having a family, we watch a lot of kids stuff. Now much sound definition do you need watching Cars for the hundredth time?

This is true. To me all the tvs look great now but not everything sounds great. Exceptional sound ceeats such a great envieonmemt imo but its just my opinion.

Look, no one is saying break the bank on sound. All I'm saying is spend a little bit and stay away from the walmart Costco HTIB crap. You will be happy you did.

Sound quality like the lord said is pretty tied in with price. Do the seperates det an avr and some speakers. Entry level paradigm wont blow the bank and will smoke all that costco crap. We arent even talking the same universe. Their warraanty department is excellent if somethimg goes wrong. When I build my first house we put in a theater room with a 12 foot screen essentially. Our sound package was about 12k and it could compete with stuff way above that price point. That being said you can spend probanly around 2k im guessing and get an incredible system maybe 3500 id go into the premier series. The lord will take care of you im sure

But yeah It's all relative to pricing really when it comes to sound. Many think that 'all amp and speakers are the same' blah blah and all that stuff. I had the good fortune to work in Audio off-on since 1997 so I have access to literally many high end products that people never see at the walmarts and Costco's of the world. Like I said to Bloated, no one is saying break the bank but be able to spend a bit and be very happy with your setup. It's better than constantly returning cheap crap to Costco all the time after it all breaks down continously. It's a disposable world my friend and Audio is really no different. Sad really but it is what it is.

Costco taking a beating. They do have low and high range stuff. But I agree, stay away from those packaged sound systems.

My biggest issue with video sound are voices. Spoken word can get lost in all the sound manipulation that goes into movies. IMO, you need a channel dedicated to voice to have a great viewing experience.

Video games are trending that way as well. So much sound layers, the important stuff gets lost.

Either way, the home theatre is a worth while investment. Once you’re happy with it, expect never to go out to the movies again.
