Jeremy Laura: Detroit ends 9 game winless streak in Buffalo, Bernier finally gets “W” - Jeremy Laura
This is not a criticism, but I did have a chuckle reading the phrase "Bernier finally gets W" when his partner Jimmy Howard is the one who is winless in his last 17 games (0-15-2).
Of course, the point is that Bernier has been playing well enough to actually deserve some recent wins, whereas Jimmy has pretty much fully earned his stretch of futility. |

There was a stretch a few years back where Howard couldn't get a win to save his life. Mrazek literally had to play every game. But the Detroit media never said a word about it. But they were more than happy to run Mrazek out of town. I've never seen a Red Wings player coddled as much as Jimmy Howard has been throughout his career. |

O man, that is really funny! Whenever you see 2-20 it does sort of pop out a little! Thanks for that Sven |

That may have been the year Mrazek literally worked his way from the ECHL to the AHL to the NHL. It was an amazing run for him. I wish I could say you were wrong. I wasn’t blogging during those times. But, I do remember this massive overprotection in every major outlet.

In the realm of opposites, I had no idea how brutal the Buffalo media could be. Sam Reinhart is a far better person than I in his handling of this one: https://www.tsn.ca/must-s...tting-on-a-play%7E1895315 |

Not sure anybody noticed... Griffins have this weird habit of beating the best team in the AHL - Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators affiliate). I can't explain it.
Griffins won 2-1 Wednesday. Veleno and Pearson getting goals. It almost reminds me of how the Red Wings often beat the far superior Nashville Predators (for no logical reason) the last year or so.
The Milwaukee Admirals have a record of 33-9-4-2 (best in the AHL). Out of their 9 regulation losses, 4 of them were by the Griffins. Which is quite striking. Griffins will make the playoffs I think if they can stay healthy.
Since I'm now streaming the Griffins' games on AHL live when I'm not at the games I'm really noticing a couple things. Veleno has really started playing with more confidence and is finding his game in the AHL after a slow start. Also, Seider is starting to play with more of a mean streak and is throwing his weight around a lot more. He's using his body and isn't intimidated at all in the scrums I see around the net. These are both positive signs for Detroit. |

I think winning gold on the WJC Canada team did alot for Veleno's confidence. He was a key player for that team. Centering Lafreniere certainly didn't hurt. 😂 |

I completely agree. Confidence is everything for young players. It was a nice reset |

I loved seeing Seider play for Germany. He threw some hits that were eye opening. This kid is the gift that keeps on giving. His development (and selection) were an incredible surprise. During development camps he was already taking leadership roles on the ice. This is a very special player. Thank you so much for posting this. Fantastic comment, well done |
