I almost wonder if letting CHL players play in the AHL so long as they've completed two seasons of junior would better prepare them for the NHL. Timmy actually looks pretty solid out there and I don't think he would have been if he had, for example, played in the CHL the last couple years.

I think players that are drafted in the first round who have played two seasons of major junior should have a buyout option by their NHL club to graduate the player early to the AHL. The extra cash would be good for the CHL clubs that have a bit of trouble staying afloat so long as owners don't use their junior teams as prospects-for-cash farms.
