I wouldn’t move Kopitar or doughty. You need guys like that to mentor the youth.
Carter yes. Quick yes if you can find a buyer but I’m
Ok with keeping both for now |

Matt Ross.................. good thoughts and writing about the realities of the Kings situation lately. Thank you for that. John Rosen, LAK Insider...is bias, and hes to EMO about the reality of the Kings, and the comments on there are complete crap.
The Kings NEED to move Lewis and Carts...
Conspiracy? Carts(bs fake IR) right before the deadline? Perfect timing.
Quick being moved would be a god send, Williams maybe pushn that from CAR.
The inside scoop I have from my source on Brown is that no one wants him, plus he has a 7 team no trade list NTC, which becomes rough for Blake to move him. He has one less year than Quick which is good. Watching him this year, seeing his attitude, he is completely DONE as a player in this NHL. HE HAS DONE NOTHING. Only a trade and motivation could spring him from the worst I have ever seen him play, no pride, no nothing, no matter what coach is there.
I wish the Kings would move him by miracle.
Kopy & DD.....keepn these two vets....sure, but we need new leadership, new youth to take the leader roles and run. Kopy is NOT a real captain, he was thrown into it, he is no where near some of the leaders in the NHL today, DD... meh, he needs something to play for to even try hard, otherwise, collecting $11m stayn in LA and not winning is his goal? Really? So if someone is interested in these two, you def have to listen to all offers. Full NTC or not, you ask them. I would be surprised if an NHL player would NOT want to go to a contender and keep winning, rather than stay with the sinking ship and a complete rebuild for the duration of their contracts, that right there is not MY idea of a passionate NHL player that craves more, wants more. If I was Kopy and DD I would move on to more contenders. Their time and cups in LA is gone. Leave. They can come back and live in LA when retired. Next.

Quick (3 years left) and Carter (2 years left) are both appealing because they have sizable cap hits but low actual salaries. Quick is 3.5mm, 3mm, and 2.5 mm for '21-23 and Carter is 2mm and 2mm until '22. So, to me, those two should be moved in the summer to a cap floor team or simply retained so the Kings can make the floor. Last thing I want is Blake signing someone like Andy Ladd (ala the Islanders a few years ago) to reach the cap floor and then the team gets saddled with a sizable cap hit while they bring on the youngsters. Blake will be measured by his ability to transition the youngsters while riding out the Carter, Brown, and Quick contracts.
Of course, if someone like Carolina wants to give the Kings a few picks for Quick, then pull the trigger. It just doesn't seem realistic for buying team right now.
Keep Kopi and Doughty. |

Thanks for chiming in, Kings Fan Since 72
Blake certainly has had a tough job trying to move those contracts (assuming he’s been trying). Certainly an uphill battle.
In a lot of ways, it’s similar to the situation in Chicago - a number of aging core guys with massive contracts all having NTC. It’s wild how much of a double-edge sword a NTC can be. Ok one hand they help entice a guy to sign, on the other, they give the player a lot of power. I’ve read some stories where guys don’t waive it and some will play hardball and provide a list of teams that don’t need them just as a way to stay.
I think Blake has been doing a good job thus far of bringing in what’s needed for a proper rebuild. I believe if he can move a couple more of the core guys it will sort of help break that “living in the past” feeling and usher in a new era of Kings hockey. Funny enough, the Hawks need to do something similar.
I’m really curious to see what moves the Kings make before the deadline...sit tight!

Lewis, Forbort and Hutton def trade pieces. Id say Carter as well. But it would have to be a very suitable place. Since he already threatened to retire if he was traded if I remember correctly.
I also dont think LA trades Quick at all until maybe mid next season. Once they can get a real look at Petersen. |

My guess is that Blake is mostly done this trade deadline. We may see Lewis traded (probably right at the deadline for a 4th or 5th), but that's about it.
It'd be nice if Carolina would take Quick, but I'm not sure that either GM would make a decision like that with under 24 hours to think about it. It would also require one of the Carolina goaltenders (Reimer or Mrazek) to come back to make the cap work and have someone to platoon with Petersen. Petersen can hold the fort for a few weeks while that goaltender is injured, but who backs him up until then? I guess that just-signed Kevin Poulin would work. Also, both Reimer and Mrazek are UFAs after next year, which is good for flexibility, but not for qualifying to be the exposed goaltender in the expansion draft. The acquired one could be extended in order to qualify, but requires him agreeing to it, and not until this Summer. Anyways, it's a lot to figure out in under 24 hours and I think that GMs would rather make no move than a hasty one. |
