GMJR only does deals that benefit both teams.

Joe: I'm set on PIT
San Jose: okay we'll take a 7th round pick to make sure you get there
GMJR: no that's not fair.... 3rd + Hallander

Because of Joe's NMC, SJ is going to have little leverage in demanding a high return.

We should still get another player for free. That's how BOGO works.

I’m actually a little worried the flyers are coming up the standings.
- Hemi07

This would be a good troll job if he didn't have 'Philadelphia Flyers' under his name. Still pretty funny, though.

This time tomorrow the dust will all be settled from the TDL...actually theres already been a lot of trades and settling haha.

Whats the over/under on JR moves?

For some reason I think he's going to make 3...i have zero explanation for this...and havent slept or ate much since Wednesday.

The better question is how many players get injured in a Caps series if we meet them in the second round. It was 3 the last time. You don't think Crosby is going to get the crap beat out of him flanked by Zucker and Simon? Letang will get run like crazy, too. Then onto more beat-downs by Boston or TB if we are lucky enough to get through. Good times.

I really want to see the data on size versus injuries. I mean the Capitals are never injured. Maybe there is a direct correlation to smaller teams dealing with more injuries. I know there are outliers, like Bjugstad as a big guy that gets hurt often... But would be curious about the full data set.

We've seen this movie too many times to not expect more of the same in the sequels. Also, 2017 was 3 years ago. We are no longer the fastest team. Murray is no longer an elite goalie. All of our aging players are 3 years older. Just remember this convo if we play the Caps in the playoffs this year. It's going to get ugly.

What does this even mean? They have one series win against us. We are 1-1 against them this season with jack franking johnson playing top pairing minutes. We will be fine as long as Dumo and Marino come back soon.

Ok, we'll see. I think Sully's "just play" mantra and a team full of soff midgets has a shelf life and low probability of staying healthy and advancing in the playoffs. Trading for Sheary would be the icing on the soff cake.

Expect Dumo to get slashed on his Achilles and Marino to get punched in the face a lot.

Boston isn’t as big and bad as they used to be. Tampa isn’t the most physically imposing team either. They are all very skilled teams though. As fair as physicality Washington is the big test and Pittsburgh can play with them. Durability is a factor though with this team but all you can do is hope for the best, and hopefully durability is a factor in drafting and signing fa’s going forward.

Tampa is apparently making a push to sign Bogo. I don't know why but I hope it's true.

As others have posted I’m perplexed by the Riik benching...it’s amazing how much the D is negatively impacting this team. What I would give to see the following pairing for a few games (when healthy)
Dumo - Letang
Marino - Riik
Petts - JJ

And what do you suggest they do? What is the entire point of your rant about team toughness?

They are both nasty and have players who are constantly running around throwing dirty hits.

Yes, I'd like to see some tough, battle-tested players to round out the lineup, not more of the same.

Trade or sign some tough, battle-tested, playoff hockey performers. When 5'11" 189 lb 3rd line Horny is your toughest player on offense or defense, that's a problem. We aren't going to be skating past teams anymore. Time to change the roster makeup. Regular season wins are nice and all, but the playoffs are a different animal. We got exposed last year against NYI and haven't really changed much to go against that type of team.

Bjugstad also plays RW, so the Pens wouldn't need to obtain anyone else. With Rust likely staying at RW with Geno in a healthy lineup, that leaves Bjug, Simon and Horn to rotate around.

Zucker-Sid-Simon/Bjug/Simon
Kahun-Geno-Rust
McCann-Joe-Horn/Bjug/Simon
ZAR-Blue-Tanev

Works for me.

Simon and Joe together? Who the (frank) is gonna shoot the puck lol.
