I mean I guess it helps weaken the lightning as an opponent. But I'd rather Bogo for free than GMJR to trade assets for any defenseman. It's literally zero risk. Bogo only plays as our 7th or 8th dman.

Im not sure if Bjug is tradable or if he has to medically cleared... But I half expect JR to do something 'bigger' than what we thought.... Like Kreider or Pageau or something.

Yohe reporting that he doesn’t expect GMJR to acquire a defenseman unless it’s a “sweetheart” deal. Says he fully expects a forward to round out the 3rd line.

Put ZAR on that line and you'll be guaranteed to get 15 goals out of that line per season.

I was listening to Bob Grove on The Fan this evening... Sheary's name was brought up. Bob's response was "ya know.....I don't see it" "I mean, you let him go before for a reason" "I can't see bringing him back".

Hopefully Jim was listening....

What does this even mean? They have one series win against us. We are 1-1 against them this season with jack franking johnson playing top pairing minutes. We will be fine as long as Dumo and Marino come back soon.

1. Never said that
2. Having Jack on the top pairing is horrendous. He has been a huge anchor.

Trade or sign some tough, battle-tested, playoff hockey performers. When 5'11" 189 lb 3rd line Horny is your toughest player on offense or defense, that's a problem. We aren't going to be skating past teams anymore. Time to change the roster makeup. Regular season wins are nice and all, but the playoffs are a different animal. We got exposed last year against NYI and haven't really changed much to go against that type of team.

This annoys me if true. JJ shouldn't be in the lineup, or 3LD at most, Petts is a 2/3 tweener, IMO, and Dumo might be a shell of his former self for the rest of the season. The left side is a mess. I'm not worried at all about the right side.

Remember this convo come playoff time. Today's game plus the games against TB and Boston were sneak previews. This is not some far-out idea. It's called playoff hockey. The refs swallow their whistles and let all kinds of crap go. If you go in with a small, weak, injury-prone team, you are asking for trouble. Again, this isn't 2016 or 2017. We aren't going to out-skill, out-skate teams anymore.

Let's start with recency bias... Recent issues... Defensive commitment and faceoffs.

Add in JR's comments about veteran depth forward ... Nate Thompson just feels like a JR move.

I 2/3s of the way agree with this. 1. You didn’t say that. 2. Having JJ in the top pairing IS horrendous (unfortunately due to injury is became necessary). He hasn’t been an anchor as in years past, he is playing decently in a position that is above his paygrade.

Expect Dumo to get slashed on his Achilles and Marino to get punched in the face a lot.
- Hockey66

Ok ...sure....but these guys have been playing this game since they were wee ones. They've had the poop kicked out of them their whole lives. They are not scared of being checked hard, slashed, hacked or injured...so why should we be for them?

So Dumo is probably going to be good to go for the playoffs then which is a relief. I did read that he did some light skating. The other night they showed Marino skating around in equipment so it shouldn't be long for him. Getting those guys back is just like making a deal.

Hopefully JR can get the job done for some quality depth at forward.

I'm not saying I'm for or against this physicality argument... But it's not just about being "scared"... It's forcing players to make quicker decisions, get out of their comfort zone, increases the chance of turnovers, makes the other team throw the puck high off the glass instead of making clean outlet passes, etc.

And injuries of course. Again not taking a side but I see 66's point... Would anyone be surprised if a player or two were injured today's game? You probably should at least consider it that likelihood in a 7 game series.

All that stuff in first paragraph isnt necessarily about size..it's about a hard fast forecheck. Pens have that and are as far as I know one of the best teams this season at making opposing players make those errors...because of how fast their forecheck is ..and back to hitting ...it's to remove player from puck and pens are almost at the top of the league in hitting.

Petterson doesn't handle physical play well for a big guy. I am sure this is what Anaheim saw in him when they sent him this way.
