Yeah I was just reading something about him vs. Wright either early this morning or yesterday. For whatever reason, he's only played 17 games in the WHL this year and hasn't posted particularly good numbers in those games.
- eichiefs9

It's because he wasn't granted exception status, so he's not eligible to play in all the games. He can only play in up to 5, and then can play more if needed due to injury. I believe Kirby Dach went through the same thing but I could be thinking of someone else

Yeah he's listed as having played 17 so far. Either way, seems like the top of that draft class is Wright/him/Brad Lambert. But that's 2.5 years out so I'm sure that could all change

Interesting tidbit... I just heard Lebrun say that Florida was runners up for Skjei. I’d assume they weren’t willing to give up their first, or if they even have one because it would help the rangers out more to get Florida’s pick instead.

Well if they were the runner up then they probably weren't offering a 1st, if I had to guess

considering 2.5 years is about 1/6 of these kids lives so far, I'd say that's a safe bet. It is interesting reading about some of these exceptional status kids, and the decisions they have to make at such an early age. Savoie was committed to Denver, rescinded that to go to the WHL, but was then denied exceptional status and is now kind of in limbo. I'm not surprised he isn't lighting it up in his limited time this year.

Once the Skjei to Carolina rumors picked up yesterday afternoon I thought they were flipping Trocheck to us

yeah, it's pretty obvious Rangers didn't want to take any salary in return and wanted whoever they traded Skjei to to assume the whole contract

I still can't believe we pulled it off for a first rounder

They wanted us to take back salary. We wanted to clear cap space

there was talk Carolina was looking at flipping Trochek and pieces to Minnesota for E.Staal and Brodin, but I guess Minny pulled back on things after the Parise trade fell through.

That makes more sense, honestly. I would've liked Trochek but I think Jim is right in that we didn't want to take any salary back. I'm happy with the 1st and to be honest I think you guys will be happy with Skjei when all is said and done. He needed a change on scenery and less pressure put on him. You could tell he was in his own head.

Should the miracle happen and we get Byfield, I doubt hes a 2C. That guy is gonna be #1.

My other pipedream is Barkov centering Panarin and Kakko.

Skjei may be very good there but still, this trade nears the McDonagh Gomez deal. Just to get his money outta here

Zib is the number one til he’s not tho. He’s approaching top 10 centers in the whole league territory, if he’s not there already

Talk about good trades, him for Brassard? Really? Lmao 😂 I still can’t believe that one either

Gorton is just a fantastic GM

I swear, I got 1 thousand fans on twitter telling me Howden isn't good and should be in the AHL and I got one here telling me he belongs on the 2nd line
- jimbro83

Trust me, I’m not saying he belongs on the 2nd line. I’m saying the 3rd line is stale and needs a shakeup. If we make it out of the expansion draft losing Howden I’ll be more than happy.

You realize that it's not a real human right? He's listed as 5'4" and 279lbs

I think it's a player profile EP created to test stuff for their website on. Especially considering he plays for the "Testville Pink Panthers" and had 69 goals and zero assists last season in 69gp

and the quote from his coach is named Ben Dover!
