Caffeine or coke, dude. Neither will leave you that bad in the morning...you'll just be tired of course.

29/80 = .3625 PPG last year
.3625*61GP so far this year = 22.1125

He has 25 points this year. Clowns can rewrite the script and make large of what kinds of points he gets while ignoring intangibles because a dynamic sport like hockey hasn't divined a way to quantify the chaos on the ice, but it just makes them look stupid. Who's to say that a secondary assist didn't require a better hockey play than a primary? Hell - sometimes it's even the tertiary pass or play that made the difference. Hockey drew the line at the two most recent touches, so we deal with it, rather than split hairs and numbers to try to prove a point (any statistician can twist numbers with such a high number of variables to "prove" almost any point).

Anyone that has watched him play all year would salute him on his hustle, relentless pressure on the defensive end, crucial and effective role on the PK, and (yes - even these) empty net goals that prevent the possibilities of comebacks. I'm pretty sure Mario stacked up empty netters too. GMJR has done well. HCMS has done well. The team is threatening for 1st in the division. Some people

True, not all assists are created equal. And the old saying 'figures don't lie but liars figure' can be applied anytime. Tanev is doing what is asked of his coaching staff and that is the bottom line. RW is confusing coaching duties and GM duties. The GM must decide if he is getting value for the dollar. RW is right Tanev is doing his job this year and has earned his contract for another year. In a 'what have you done for me lately business' that is good enough for now.

Quite frankly he could have done two articles, one describing his effectiveness on the ice. Things a coach looks for. Then a second on pure analytics detailing what a GM looks for going forward.

I think he does a job writing for this site and it is appreciated. If it takes up too much of his time then he can cut back on the articles some. Quality over quantity. We will get by.

Breaking news, current data supports theory.

Future data will require re-examination.

Brandon Tanev's 11 goals do not count.

But look over here at offensive catalyst Conor Sheary and his 9 goals!!!!

LOL, goals, assists and +/- are no longer relevant. And I'll bet you there's an adv stat out there somewhere for Sheary's fall-down-on-the-ice rate at 5v5 %$3.4467+@ that GMJR used to re-aquire him.

I'm going to disagree to some extent. It's difficult to produce excellent content several times a week when it isn't your primary job. I can't imagine these guys make a boat load of cash when the content is largely given away for free. I still think RW is one of the best on this site.....even if I don't agree with some of his opinions. At least RW provides some supporting documentation for his premises. Most of the other writers are "fan blogs".

While I do agree. But even in the blog above, a simple extra paragraph explaining why it’s his 2nd worst offensive season And what he’s using to evaluate would have clarified a little bit. I’ve seen a few new people here and you can’t just assume everyone knows what you’re talking about if you’re trying to reach new readers.

I agree with this. Nothing wrong with a mid-ish season check-up on a new player making a good chunk of money to play on the 4th line.

I think people just like to complain. First it was too many charts and graphs. Now it is not enough.

As for not drawing penalties, is it just me or is Tanev still getting fouled (?) a lot but the refs aren't calling it? Does he have a rep now? Is he the new Horny?

It’s certainly not on him as it seemed RW was placing it. He hasn’t changed his game at all. Refs just have no consistency

Tanev has been doing the same things to draw those penalties, just not getting called now. It's weak officiating.

I heard on the radio he was riding the bike while the team practiced yesterday. Sullivan's going to talk with reporters about 2 hours before game time tonight. Doesn't seem the Pens have said anything about him yet.

I was going to say the same thing, but while I seem to go back to it frequently, I hate blaming stuff on poor Officiating. But it is certainly that they quit making calls on his efforts for sure!!! LMAO and SMH all at the same time.
