I always wondered why Leon Draisaitl's numbers were always said to be inflated, until recently, because of McDavid but Reinhart never got that burden about riding Jack's coattails? - GilPerreault11
Since Draisatil was moved to 2C on the 2nd line with RNH and Yamamoto, RNH is 3rd in the NHL in points. |

Tyler Ennis>Jeff Skinner?
News at 11. - TheSabresTaco
Never said that but if you’re willing to have a conversation on marginal revenue I’m all ears.
Ennis at 750K helps this team more than Skinner at $9M. |

because he is scoring more goals this season
damn is the sky blue or green
bunch of damn Mephitophobics here - homiedclown
He's shooting better this season, no question there.
I don't know a measure for end-to-end rush goals, but he'd be off the charts this year. Last season, he set up an absurd number of tap-ins. They were both great seasons, but it's like looking at 2 different players.

No, simply because of the salary he requires. The value is simply not there. - TheSabresTaco
Which is franking hilarious because you can’t understand my Ennis vs Skinner argument yet not even 5 minutes later say you aren’t willing to pay the money for a Pro Bowl Caliber DE because his salary cap hit would outweigh his value, can’t make this poop up. |

Holy Frank.....
How about last year. Who had more value Ennis or Skinner? I can play the hindsight game too....
Its just like saying we should of drafted Leon, NO POOP in hindsight... |

I know, that's why I said until recently, but sam never got that burden all he has ever accomplished was all him, not Jack. I always wondered why Sabres fans steered clear of that.

Exactly.
There's a reason Ennis wasn't signed for $9 million.
HE DIDN'T SCORE 40 GOALS IN HIS PREVIOUS 4 YEARS COMBINED! |

So Botterill traded for Skinner without the intention of re-signing him, which Botterill really didn't want to do, but the fans pressured him into doing it. His plan was to spend the 2nd, 3rd and 5th on Skinner and then let him walk for nothing. And he would have gotten away with it if those meddling fans hadn't gotten involved.
That's some high-grade delusional thinking
Botterill wanted Skinner. He traded for him and he signed him. Blaming the fans is ludicrous. Skinner was his choice, point blank - jcragcrumple
I’m sure Skinner’s agent would have taken 72M over 8 years the second the trade was complete if Botts offered it.
I’d bet that Botts didn’t wanna go 8 years at that term and bit the bullet cause he knew he’d get crushed for it. So yes, I’m sure he had every intention of signing Skinner when he made that deal but I don’t think he knew he was going to be walking funny for 3 months afterwords.

That's the nature of backing yourself into a corner, which is what Botterill does time and time again.
When you spend assets to acquire a guy who goes onto score 40 goals, you have to re-sign him otherwise it looks like you have no plan. You cant spend a 2nd, 3rd and a 5th and then let the guy walk following a 40 goal season.
He found his guy, he signed him and here we are. Hopefully he or his replacement can finally get a goddamn center for Skinner to play with so we're not flushing $9m down the drain annually |

I am pretty sure that Skinner and his agent clearly stated the summer we traded for him that they were not going to negotiate anything until after last season was over.

Saw something on twitter that I liked
Trade for him after he is franchised and take on the Foles contract
Give the Bills a good backup and a stud pass rusher, and since they are taking on that contract it lowers the price SIGNIFICANTLY
I would also keep Lawson.
The Bills like to rotate the DE's anyway - Stripes77
I hate that idea
Why not just go after one of the other pass rushers that are UFA?
Saves us from taking on the Foles cap hit
And we give up nothing in return |

27 goals for 700K. That’s a lot more bang for your buck don’t you think ? - Pegullaville
It’s a lot more than any player who makes over $2mil or so
Should i list them all?
Or is it just Skinner that’s applicable? |

Would you trade are 1st to the Jags for Nago - Buff36
Absolutely not
And i like the player
But I’m not trading for a pass rusher,
when there’s good ones available for free as UFAs
Doesn’t make sense to give up the assets |

Leafs fans on Spector's page offering Nylander for Montour and Kahun. Apparently they don't know our previous Nylander situation.
Also, have seen many Leaf fans wanting them to trade Marner. Skinner waive to go to Toronto? Pretty sure he would. Skinner, Montour and a 2nd (which is basically a late 1st) or next years 1st for Marner? Then send Reinhart to TB for Cirelli. - adambuffalo
Interesting ideas
But i seriously doubt Tampa moves Cirelli
Especially not to pay Sam instead
And a big trade with the Leafs is seemingly unlikely at best |

I’d only consider the trade if we strike out in free agency on the other pass rushers
And even then,
still not giving up our 1st for him |

You'll enjoy this...
I still believe Sam gets over $7m in his new contract. Assuming 6 years or more for term, and him being around 65 pts....nothing new there from me.
I would be open to the GM trading Sam, if
- the GM acquires another 1 or 2 suitable for 1RW and/or 2RW
- the acquired player is in a position of need 2C or 1RhD.
