Okay if people now want Sam to walk .......

What “good” top 6 forward is replacing Sam?

Our gm can’t even get a 2C via trade. So adding another top 6 right winger to that list would be a bad idea

- Sabretooth9

Are you reading the posts? Are you aware of RFA rules? No one wants him to walk and he, by rule, cannot.

A lot of us think sending him and Ristolainen in a package could land us a game-breaker, because neither of those 2 players are. I wouldn't think twice about Reinhart, Ristolainen and a 1st for Laine. And I think WPG considers it, in all honesty.

Skinner/Eichel/Laine looks way better than

Olofsson/Eichel/Reinhart

Skinner/Eichel/Reinhart

And if we end up picking around 10, I'd offer this year's 1st in that deal.

We don’t agree often Beady,
but I’m with ya here

It was reasonable for Kruger to try Skinner on line2 to spread out the scoring
But it just hasn’t worked since the first 2weeks of the season
And he absolutely should’ve been put back on line1 with Jack

- jdfitz77

It makes me even more angery when Olofsson has played all season on Jack's LW and has done almost nothing that any other player could do in that spot, actually a little less IMO.

Keep him on the 1st PP unit's RW, but Skinner needs to be on line 1 if that's the case, end of story. And Olofsson being injured shouldn't be the catalyst for it.

Kreuger had lightning in a bottle to start the season and the second it stiopped working, he stuck to his guns and in spite of the fanbase he got to know so well this past summer, he held grudges on players at the expense of the team's success.

He's a horrible hockey coach. I hate his face, his voice, his phoned-in responses in pressers... He's not a player's coach if he's bullying our only competent goal-scorer aside from Eichel because he doesn't like the way he practices.

Good god I'm even more piossed of now than I have been all year because I've been too high to give a crap but only 3 days dry and I want to burn down the entire Harborcenter.

Don't worry, Uncle Terry will just drill another well.

I wouldn't even think twice about it.

We need players NOW. Elite ones. Reinhart can be replaced. So can Ristolainen.

We aren't drafting a Patrick Laine any time soon. Or signing him. Or developing him. Not unless it takes 6 god damn years like it did for Olofsson and we don't have the time for that, seriously, our all-star, elite center is about a year away from demanding a trade.

It's not his fault there's only one competent offensive center option.

Had he switched to skinner on the top line, there would have been more goals for Skinner, fewer for Eichel and none for Olofsson. Shuffling pieces around isn't that effective when the talent pool is as deep as a puddle

Ennis’ goals per salary is better than Eichel’s....
Not even close

That’s how bad your argument was comparing him to others & their salaries

- jdfitz77

Sure, however Eichel is an 100 point player that drives a line. Those wingers need a said Center to produce.

This is so not true.

Olofsson scores all of his goals on the PP, might have had chemistry with other players if given the chance, and I'm positive Eichel's season would look the same as it does now, maybe even a little better, if Skinner is on his wing scoring 25+ even strength goals at this point in the year...

Skinner is a volume shooter. You'd basically be turning 10 Eichel goals into assists and giving Skinner 10 more goals. We'd be in the same place. The bottom line is they need a 2nd line pivot to make a reasonable top-6

Isn’t our top line good enough of we just move Skinner back up there?

Extreme reach for the bolded

I get your overall point about shuffling players around though

What's the most recent example of someone trading an established #1RW + for a better, established #1RW?

They could probably trade him for a good 2nd pairing defenseman, but we have 4 of those. So do you want picks and prospects or a defenseman?

Idk, I'll take "the devil I know"

- jcragcrumple

So sam is great in your opinion, but worth a McCabe or colin Miller?

That's not saying alot about a 60 point 25 goalish 1rw.

If Skinner is on Eichel's line, he's taking a lot of Eichel's shots and goals. Eichel would get more assists. The result would largely be the same. -10 goals for Eichel, +10 assists. +10 goals for Skinner

As for the Olofsson part, if you're disappointed with his 5-on-5 production with Eichel, it would be nonexistent with Mojo and Frolik

I never said sam is great, first of all

2nd pairing dmen on this team - Montour, Risto, Miller and Joker

Yeah, reinhart gets you a guy like that plus a prospect.

He doesn't get you a better #1RW or a #2C by himself

Pray tell, what second line you are referring to? We have a 2/3rds of a 1st line and a 4th line and a blob of Jello in the middle-6.

Trading a defensemen who requested a trade and Reinhart for Laine instantly makes us a better team and I absolutely throw in this year's 1st to get it done.

We still need to address the 2C position, still have Olofsson, still have Mittelstadt, have Cozens coming up, multiple contracts coming off the books this summer...

If we can land Laine for those pieces, I would be 100% on-board with re-signing Girgensons and Larsson for our 4th line, letting Frolik, Sobotka go, sign Lazar for that 13th forward position and attacking the offseason like a bat out of Hell.
