Olofsson has been putrid at 5v5 this season. Skinner has been actually decent at 5v5. Eichel can dominate, okay, and that's despite Olofsson sucking it up most of the time and being overwhelmed on his off wing.

- BeadyEyedDouche

I'll give you that Olofsson did have a rough start of the season, and likely only stuck around because of his power play production. After some time adjusting, he's gone from 1 EV goal in his first 20 games to 7 in the last 30, which would equal out to about 20 a year (add PP goals and he's a 30-35 goal scorer).
Also, if Olofsson is so 'putrid' at 5v5 this season how come he has as many EV assists this year in 50 games that Skinner had in 82 games last season?

I would love to get Laine, but Risto, Reinhart and this year's 1st is too much, and although he is on a good contract now, he is arb eligible next contract. Are we going to have two $9m wingers?
I think that if Winnipeg did consider trading Laine they may want Byfuglien included.
Risto and Reinhart for Laine and Buff?

I'm curious how much it would take to get him from Nashville and Strome from Chicago.
- kingcong39

Idk why ppl keep bringing up Strome?
Why does Chicago want to move him?

Interesting stuff the second half.

Sunmary:

- Offseason FA center targets are Haula and Granlund
- Ristolainen was part of the Josh Anderson and Trocheck deals that didn't work out
- Columbus wanted Buffalo to take back Riley Nash to even out the cap a bit
- There were more parts to each of the deals above that didn't work out
- Both Detroit and Vegas had and have interest in Ristolainen

- kingcong39

Yzerman has wanted Risto since he was in Tampa,
so that doesn’t surprise me
Although it does beg the question...
If Yzerman the genius wants Risto,
should we trade him?

Vegas wants him?
Cool, we want Karlsson
Maybe they’d consider moving him after 2 down seasons in a row?

If Cbus wants Risto, it needs to be Anderson +
Not the other way

Missed out on Trocheck bc FLA didn’t wanna trade him in division, can’t do anything about that

Granlund has been playing on the wing for years now, and never had a good season at Center

Haula I’m ok with if the price is right,
but I’m guessing he’d get overpaid
Especially for us to get him

Nope nope nope. Be happy that Simmonds is a UFA after this season, as you will not want him. Watched enough to know that they guy is nothing but a net presence now. He stopped fighting/hitting, and has terrible passing/vision. He is only useful in front of the net and will get 15 goals, and 10 assists per season from her on out.

As for Henrique, if the rumors are true, you dodged a terrible contract. Johnson has dipped in production, but I could see him being a good fit.

If Olofsson was anywhere close to 30 even-strength goals, this argument might hold up. He has like 8. Playing all year with Eichel. I'm positive anyone on this blog who has played any kind of hockey could put up 8 goals on Eichel's wing.

Skinner is a goal scorer. Olofsson has more finesse and play-making. Two very different players, honestly.

Who was in the deal then if not Ristolainen?

Just because Yzerman may want Ristolainen, doesn't mean there should be fear in trading him there. Not every GM makes all good moves. We sure have evidence of that as Sabres fans.

I keep reading here that the soccer coach hates Skinner for some reason and buries him with useless linemates. If this is happening then why wouldn't the GM recognize it and step in and direct the soccer coach to utilize Skinner in a way that best helps this team. Hell doesn't this coach have a boss?

You’re normally a pretty smart guy so I don’t want to be rude about your idiotic idea about the covid19 virus being “media hysteria” but I can’t help myself.

A century ago there was something known as the Spanish flu. It had a mortality rate of 1.7% and an infection rate similar to what scientists think this current virus has. The mortality rate of this Coronavirus is thought to be 2% or higher.

30 million people died worldwide from that virus.

What’s the difference between then and now? To start there are about five times as many people alive today. Then 1.7 billion, now 7.6 billion.

Along with the sheer number of people, the way we live has changed. 100 years ago the most common profession was being a farmer. Nowadays we work in close proximity with each other, sharing facilities like bathrooms, elevators, restaurants, fast food restaurants, shopping centers, movie theaters, convenience stores and much more. People are in much closer proximity to each other now than they were then.

Yes we have better medical treatment and better sanitation practices than we did back then, but washing your hands won’t help you from breathing in air droplets from the person who coughed or sneezed ten minutes ago in the air you are breathing.

There will not be a vaccine for at least a year, and there’s not much doctors can do for you against a virus.

So you can spout off on your “media hysteria” all you like, but it really is plain stupid. This virus is serious. It’s just getting started and the numbers will get very bad very quickly.

There was 24 hour a day coverage of 911 after it happened for months with less than 3000 people dying from the attacks. There’s already more than 3000 deaths from this virus and it’s in its infancy.

So, before you make such a dim witted statement about something you obviously haven’t put any thought into, think about the fact that millions of Americans are on immunosuppressants. Think about the fact that an estimated 20-50 million Americans have autoimmune disorders. Think about the fact that although most people will get through this fine, there are many who won’t. Those people at risk want to hear everything the media has to say about this.

You’re supposed to be one of the smart ones here! Smh

- Beethoven

Jez, talk about leaping to conclusions based on assumptions and running with it, lol

You couldn't be more wrong about my 1 line reference in my post, as it was a dig at a couple of regular posters (who are generally contrarian thinkers) about their dismissal of an earlier post of mine as proof of media-driven hysteria.
Actually, I happen to agree with EVERYTHING you said.

You should go back several pages to Sunday when I gave basic facts about the C-virus and suggested people take obvious precautions...cover your mouth when sneezing/coughing, wash your hands, stay home if you feel sick, etc.. and masks for the masses who are not infected won't help, they are meant for the infected to wear to reduce the broadcast of coughs/sneezes... the only response from 3 or 4 posters was basically I was fear-mongering.
Can't make this stuff up.

Thanks for the support...although in a weird way, lol.

I would take Granlund, with his speed and he can dish the puck to, him and Skinner could work nicely together. And don't care if he's a winger, he can pass the puck and finish, perfect compliment to Skinner

Even if it was true, what do the Sabres have that a team would ask for?
Risto is the best of whats available so clearly he would be talked in any and all deals imo
