They never claimed Ristolainen didn't ask for a trade, only that Botterill refused to move on that request. - buffalofan19
I mean polian might have shopped kelly, thomas, reed, smith, bennett, etc when they wanted out of buffalo

casey, okposo for barkov - homiedclown
Would you accept a similiar offer for eichel?
I wouldn't.
Our northern expert flacco had barkov as better than eichel last season |

apples and oranges
barkov has 2 years left then he walks
eichel has 6 years left on his deal
and barkov was much better last season
jack took a huge step this season, up til recent slump might be the most improved player in the entire NHL this season |

I doubt Florida is trading Barkov, but if they are, you have to look at the pieces you least want to part with, and then include those.
Olofsson, Jokiharju, 2020 1st probably is more realistic. Maybe Cozens is in there instead of one of those three pieces.
Even then, Florida might say no. |

Four of those guys are hall of famers and the 5th one should be.
Rasmus Ristolainen will only go into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a visitor. |

"COULD BIG OFF-SEASON CHANGES BE COMING FOR THE PANTHERS?
SPORTSNET: Elliotte Friedman wonders what the consequences will be for the Florida Panthers if they miss the playoffs again. Owner Vinny Viola spent more than $100 million to improve the club, including signing Sergei Bobrovsky and Anton Stralman and hiring Joel Quenneville as head coach. Rival general managers suspect the Panthers could break up their core if they fail to reach the postseason.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Those changes to the core could include captain Aleksander Barkov, winger Jonathan Huberdeau, or defenseman Aaron Ekblad. Of the three, Barkov and Ekblad lack no-trade protection, while Huberdeau has a full no-movement clause.
I realize this sounds extreme, but things simply aren’t working out with the current core. If they decide to shake things up, one of those three could hit the trade block. Mike Matheson also surfaced in trade speculation this season. Like Barkov and Ekblad, he lacks a no-trade clause in his contract. "

Not that I don't believe you, but Ristolainen all but admitted he asked for one at the beginning of the season. There's no inside baseball needed here. It's common knowledge. Fact is, Botterill got spooked by the O'Reilly trade, and because of it, we are where we are now. - buffalofan19

And every one of those coaches have been fired except for Krueger. If you're a coach that insists on playing Ristolainen more than any other defenseman, it means you're not a very good coach. |

Botterill still wan't shopping him, don't know why people still think he is or was regardless what Risto asked for. - SABRES 89
Some posters think risto is a very bad hockey player and the Sabres will never win with him in a Sabres uniform.
They feel like Botterill should share their opinions and of course he would be offered as trade bait.
I like risto. Like what he said the other day in regards to playing for the city ect. Bs or. Not |

I’d generally say that our pick this year would be untouchable, however if Barkov is truly available you make that move 100%. Even if it means Cozens goes in that deal. Having Eichel and Barkov as our top 2C and you can start planning the parade. |

Oh Spector said it. Well then it must be true.
Even if he is shopped, it will be to acquire young cheap assets. Oloffson, Cozens, Jokiharju, 2020 1st. Pick three. |

I couldn't care less what the guy says. I care about what he does on the ice, which, for his entire career, has led to more negative plays than positive ones by a mile. JP Losman always "said the right things" when he was with the Bills, too. It did not change the fact that he was a lousy quarterback, and had a lower football IQ than a rock. |

Barkov had an incredible year last year and was probably the most dominant 200 foot Center in the entire NHL. This year he has taken a step back while Eichel has turned it up a few notches.
Getting Barkov now would be the equivalent of getting Kopitar in his prime. |
