How about this perspective...
This board is like a classroom full of bipolar 7th graders.

Win a game and the Cup is ours, lose a game and Strome sucks, Kakko will never be good, Georgie (frank)ing sucks, Quinn doesn't know what he's doing...
Jesus, guys. The youngest team in the league, coming out of a rebuild just hung with the Champs and lost on a poopty bounce. There is much to be excited and positive about with this team right now.
Remember how there were no expectations for this team and any success they had was just gravy???

...oh, and we should have been on the PP about 18 times more than we were. That also would have changed the outcome. Zero consistency from night to night with these dumb refs.

Thats TPC, he is ready to jump off a bridge every goal against or is surrounded by 10 naked women when they score. Every loss we arent making the playoffs, every win, Cup finals here we come. He kills me

tough loss, we did a lot of things right, probably their best played game that they lost all season

they miss Kreider, it's not an excuse, just reality

I can't blame anyone if they are concerned about Kakko's inability to finish, it certainly worries me.

- jimbro83

I’m trying to keep in mind he’s only 19, away from home etc.

But, there is far too much east/west in his game. His skating stride is choppy, and his 1st step average.

I’m always amazed how these so called scouts are constantly fooled by what they see in these kids playing on the larger ice surface.

And please everyone stop with the he was playing with men narrative. The only men in professional hockey are in the NHL.

All that said, we may not know what a Kakko is for a few more years.

I’d like to see Gauthier moved up, I think he needs to score a couple to gain his confidence. I like his game, let the bread man send him a few of those incredible passes of his.

Talk about finishers, Kakko is not one, yet. Hopefully more a confidence thing that he can overcome than a skill thing. But Strome, ugh. You put a sniper next to Panarin and he has twice as many goals. Ryan’s been a nice surprise, but I kinda wish we had sold high on him.
- Bromancer

I DO NOT want to invest in Strome long term! I think it would be a huge mistake. We need a player with a higher ceiling playing with Panarin. We committed to Kreider which was the right decision. Strome has had a great season not taking that away from him but a lot has to do with Panarin. Think we can improve that spot in the lineup with someone else.

I would like Brandon Lemieux to play with Mika and Buch while Kreider is out.

It's only a matter of time for Kakko. He's already a noticeable force in the corners on the puck and at times looks like a young Jagr the way he uses his body. I think he needs some strengthening work much like Crosby had to do early on. He's close though.

Overall, it was one of those games you felt they deserved to win but just came up short. Not having Kreider is hurting in front of the net and teams are watching Z and Bread closely. It's good to see Strome stepping up when he's not taking penalties.

It probably didn’t matter but Strome lost the faceoff before the empty netter. I’ve never noticed faceoffs as much as I have this year, only because how horrid the Rangers are with them

It’s going to be the bugaboo of this group if they don’t get better or get someone that can win more then he loses.

Boone Jenner is someone who they should acquire in the offseason(he’s 55% this year, and that range his whole career) I doubt he’d cost an arm and a leg, maybe Strome straight up

This is the beauty of having 2 first round picks. I can see them doing what they did last year. Using one to draft and trading one for an impact player

Strome played well for us last season and, until recently, this season as well. Someone posted a 2-year deal for him. I'd do that.

Yea agreed. Faceoff guy is as imperative as getting the RHD they needed last offseason. A need of epic proportions. I really feel like that’s the last piece here, then they’ll take off

I am curious too what they do about another LH d man. If they are serious about contending next year not sure Staal/Smith should be 2/3rds of that side. Also it wouldn't be fair to expect someone like K'Andre to step right in.

Smith has actually been reborn back there. He’s been very good recently. Not saying he’s staying around lol just that I’ve been impressed with him

Deangelo has been playing shifts on the left. That would be amazing if he can play there regularly

Won’t be long before the #NHL salary cap reaches $100 million

Pierre LeBrun
@PierreVLeBrun

Bill Daly says he gave GMs a salary cap projection today for next season: the cap will be anywhere from $84 million to $88.2 million. The exact figure will be negotiated with the NHLPA.

That's good for us, right? Even if it's less than the $84M target (this years cap was $1.5M under projections), that pretty much covers a guy like Fast.

this is fantastic for us

just think if it goes up 7 million and we already cut Skjei's salary out, we are in great shape this summer regardless of Lundqvist

If it goes up that much, we shouldn't even entertain the thought of a buyout. It would surely go up by at least a little bit the following year, and we could make another splash in the free agent market if warranted.

His age is telling me his leg strength isn’t there yet. I thought last night he played great

He needs to use the whatever weight machine strengthens the legs everyday in the summer

I agree, just ride it out

but they were talking an awful lot about this whole 3 goalie thing being unsustainable

some kind of decision will be made, they wont have a 3 goalie monster next year
