There could be an nhl player, official, coach, or staffer that already has it and spreading it. It's smarter to stop play before someone tests positive because once they do more than just that person is at risk and most likely has it.

1) Does this mean we would be picking where we currently are in the table at the draft ?

2) Will the lottery be moved up or down ?

3) Will the draft be moved up or down ?

4) Are the playoffs pushed back or brought forward

5) Will all this apply to the AHL and ECHL

6) Will junior hockey be cut short

7) So I guess this definitely means Vatanen can not play 10 games for the Canes.

Wonder what happens with draft picks, playoffs etc

If season is over today, the nucks miss out on playoffs even though they have same points as preds and games played but 2 less points then the Jets but Jets played 2 more games

Which means we wouldn't get this year's 1st

Hopefully we (the country) are able to contain this and limit the damage within the next few months. So they'll probably be able to pick at some point down the line.

We dont know if they would miss out on the playoffs. They would probably seed the teams by points % to counter the uneven amount of games played, and Frank Seravalli put up a points % ranking earlier today and it'd have the Canucks 3rd in the pacific

We have no idea about any of this. It all depends how long the season is suspended for and what happens to the rest of the regular season when the league resumes play.

Hearing as part of the #NHL's due diligence process, teams have been asked to provide arena building availability through the end of July.

That'd be interesting, summer hockey.

I would hate this more if NJ was actually good. No biggie there. Feel bad for Binghamton though. They were a machine.

You would have to think that there will be back and forth between those teams on the bubble if there is a possibility of a playoff saying we are in the position now while the other says but our percentage is better

Then flip side if there is no playoffs they may say no they have a higher % so they move up in the draft and imagine if they win the lottery

Good thing they did that during the mumps outbreak, or when a player gets the flu. Shut everything down when someone gets a cold. You can never be too careful.

I'm not one to panic but this is a little more serious. There's a reason the whole world is simultaneously in a panic.

When I heard the NBA was suspending its season the image of LeBron getting carried off the court by teammates due to cramps came into my head.

NHL still playing, hockey players are tough as nails. They'll keep going.

MLS has suspended its season. I expect the NHL to do the same. Too bad. I was looking forward to all sports media giving NHL coverage and trying to pronounce player names.

If you play hockey, where your gloves out in public to stay safe! I am going to be wearing my gloves when I ride the subway.

Because it's new

Just look at Ebola

From many reports it has stabilized in China and in some places no new cases or very few new cases have been reported.

We keep hearing all these astronomical numbers such as millions will get it

I am in the UK and they said it's possible 100,000 people in the UK could die from the coronavirus.......I am no expert but when the worldwide number of cases is less than 150,000 with a ~3% mortality rate, I find it highly unlikely the UK will come close to that let alone 1000 deaths

And with summer coming up and flu season slowing down, I think that it won't be as bad as what some are predicting

You can he worried and be prepared but it isn't exactly world changing other than it's put everything on "code red"

this is because they took very drastic measures to stop the spread in the province where it hit.

Everywhere else people just kinda took care of themselves. No big gatherings, wash your hands and workplaces, and it will be fine. People will still get sick but it won't spread at a crazy rate like it does when nobody does anything.

There's no point of talking to some people about this because they wont take it seriously, regardless of what happens or what experts say.
