I disagree, and athletes need more advisors like me counseling them. I have two ex Philadelphia Eagles players who have done quite well.

The point here is 2mil extra dollars after agent fees, expenses, and taxes won’t change his lifestyle one bit. Playing with a perennial losing team adds to the shortsightedness of holding out for the extra dollars. Get a nice contract, play where you’re most comfortable, then enjoy your life, help others in need, and give thanks!👍

Having read all the columns there's one obvious falsehood here. Comments saying "what has he done?" or "he gives up on his team" are just incorrect. Anyone who watched him carry the Devils to the playoffs in his MVP season could see that the guy gave 110% every time he was on the ice. Now, having said all that, the Devils clearly played better without him this season. Coincidence? Coaching? Who knows? As a Devils fan I appreciate what he did for the team but unless it's a five year (or less) deal for $8 million (or less) I think that ship has sailed. He's not taking 5 x $8m.
