Cap gonna go way down. Too many brutal contracts. Canucks arent alone but say good bye to TT
Say the cap drops 4 mill and youve got loui luongo sven beagle sutter and roussell at around 20 mill lol my goodness - Jkuzzi
It won’t be that simple of a cap situation. A unique circumstance will bring about a unique formula. You can bet on it. |

I think they will carry over this years cap. The CBA is based on a 82 game season or prorate even... The half lockout seasons didnt set the cap for the following year based on 48 games or anything. Common sense...

Wow - it is LOUD in downtown Vancouver tonight as the 7 p.m. thank-you to the health-care workers and first responders begins.
The movement continues to grow. Wonderful to see.

It isn’t even really a question, if there were one available. But I don’t believe there will be one. |

Teams made moves at TDL with the knowledge that the cap was going up 3 mil. Unusual circumstances . |

Exactly. Myers is the easy choice as he has way more term. Garbage contract to start with. |

They made moves. They also heard that “based on the way things are going” it will probably go up. I don’t think the moves they made, were based on the projected cap number. I don’t believe Benning would have not traded for Toffy if the cap was supposed to stay the same.
I think Booner is right, that they’ll freeze the cap for next season, if/when that happens. Teams will operate as if this season never happened... |

I don't think the owner will agree to buy out Myers. Too early. There will be other buy out opportunities later in his contract besides, he is a usable NHLer. I think it's LE or Sutter. Sutter is a usable player but the Canucks have quite a bit of C depth.
I'd only do Sutter if I was fully committed to burying LE in the minors. |

Burying LE in the minors doesn't take much off of the cap hit, a compliance buyout gets him completely off of your books and out of your hair. Sutter at least is useful as a center or winger and /in theory/ be tradeable whereas LE is for sure not. |

You make no sense though do try to avoid institutionalization when Benning and Myers are with the team in the foreseeable future. |

If you were an expansion team would you take Myers ? I mean you have to build a whole team. Do you charge a draft pick for taking him? What round? At this point probably cheaper to deal LE to a team like Ottawa, sacrifice the pick and buy out Myers.
I mean Benning just said he had 7 NHL players almost ready ? There must be a Dman there, the Tryamkin noise won't go away as well. Then you have $12 million extra dollars instead of $6 million.
I don't think Myers will impact this team much in the future unless his contract is an albatross. He just hasn't been that guy since basically his rookie year. What if he doesn't get any better or worse regresses? That's LE all over again. |

Well it is 4 am and the wife is snoring like a trooper so I am up.
I agree if there is a compliance buyout look at Myers.
A lot of things have happened this season that changes direction. The obvious is the shut down but Canucks have had the perfect storm brewing also.
I am sure Cunucks counted on Markstrom having a good year and were probably thinking 2-3 years 4 mil. He turns out being one of the top 5 goalies in the league. You are also hoping Demko is close to ready but you find out he is not.
Tanev whom you thought was gong to be traded on his contract year has one of his best years and is an excellent mentor to the face of your D for the next 10 years.
Block head Jake starts to figure it out. Third line Gauds out performs. All these players in their contract year step up and hit home runs. It's a good problem but still a problem that you didn't expect.
I agree use compliance on Myers and also go to a cap rich team like Ottawa and say we will trade you Loui and 2 second round picks for a seventh and you can buy him out. It costs the other team 5 mil in actual money for 2 second round picks.
I would still go to Buffalo and ask them for Ristalainen who has two years left for Jake Sutter and Tryamkin |

I wouldn’t buy out Myers and I probably hate (that he’s a Canuck) him the most. He is still a serviceable third pairing defender. Give him Limited 5v5 and some PP2 and you will be fine. It’s Lui all the way.
Jim made his bed,I don’t think he has a clean set of sheets. |

So Myers is the latest whipping boy for the team, and Benning is an idiot for signing him as a UFA. Interesting, although I disagree (not surprising), but interesting non the less.

Apparently twitter is a buzz. I don’t know, I don’t pay attention to twitter.
The time to scenario plan the future is before signing the contract, not one year after signing it. Now they have to live with their decision. |

To me it's another Benning contract of giving too much money and term. They treated him like a top 2 dman when at best he is a 3/4 dman. Benning has a special skillset for overpaying UFA's, although some will argue that every GM does that at one point or another so it's ok if Benning keeps making the bed with stained sheets.
Are you sure you're feeling better? |

I'd argue that last July, clearly he needed to upgrade the D in order to be able to compete, you can say his choice in doing so sucks but something needed to be done. Compared to Fantenberg who was horrible and Benn who was a non-entity, Myers was fine. |

He's fine if is paid as a 5/6 dman, he's not. |
