No. I think that fans will come (or not...) if they sign Markstrom, Tanev, Toffoli or not. Because if they don't sign those guys, they will sign other guys. It's Petterson, Hughes, Horvat, Boeser that are filling seats.
Someone will sign Taylor Hall, compliance buyouts won't matter.
As Vantel has said many times (I agree), arenas are not going to be full the next time the NHL plays a game. That kind of social interaction is going to take time to build back to - 1970vintage
Hall to calgary effects their sales in every way imaginable. Compliance buyout makes that possible. I can see what you’re trying to say, i just think you are blatantly wrong that they make no difference when it’s so blatantly obvious it would. |

Yeah, I don't think they are remotely similar. Compliance buyouts are a luxury for teams who made bad decisions. Canada's bailout is an effort to keep people safe, in their homes until the economy has an opportunity to get going again.
You have said, on too many occasions, that the cap isn't a problem. I agree, teams will be compliant on day one of the season. How they get there? It might mean the faces change more (or less) than fans would like. - 1970vintage
The cap isn't a problem . Every team will find a way but the quality will sure drop.
The reference about the buyout and Emergency Fund is of course way different that is why I said I don't like comparing. The similarities are relief for an unusual circumstance.
I honestly don't mind if it comes down to letting Marky Taffoli and Tanev walk and bringing in Lind DiPietro and Rafferty but it is not the best thing for the image of hockey.
More than half the league would need to follow that also.

it would make a difference for some teams, not all teams, and I don't believe it would affect league revenue in the slightest. Maybe Calgary sees some growth, but whatever market Hall signed in would also see that growth (potentially). |

Suter, Parise, Webber are the next (potential) wave. - 1970vintage
So you now see why its beyond one team's benefit to get this taken out and what better time then post shutdown to help teams recover. |

Louongo's recapture would have been less if it was done a few years back . NJ's was close to a 8 year penalty |

Maybe it becomes obvious if they measure the big picture and not the dollars spent on buyouts as the bottom line on generating revenue. |

Every single team that spends close to the cap would be significantly changed. In addition, there’s a bunch of free agents to sign and money available for them. Win win unless you’re a bottom feeding team woth no market. But im all for moving bottom feeding teams with no markets.
Calgary would get some growth from bringing a homegrown superstar in... i suppose you don’t know the number one jersey last year? |

Well exactly, either don’t do it at all or do it at an equal level. The fact they allowed other teams and not the Canucks is the joke |
