I don’t like the “has to resign”. The 2nd and Madden are gone, no matter what. Don’t make another mistake on top of that one. If you can agree on something that works for both parties then sure, he was a pretty good fit, otherwise, thanks for everything, best of luck. |

Re-sign
But I guess, you could say he is resigning from the Canucks organization...maybe. |

I like him, he seems like a good fit. That # seems a bit out there, will another team pay that? I'm hoping he gets a 3 year deal. |

Agreed but not at the cost of 6 x 6. So, I guess Benning will do it and probably add expansion protection as well. |

Well, I mean he doesn’t exactly have the resume of a, uhm, let’s say, Lui Eriksson. So maybe $6x6 is a bit rich, but I imagine it’s going to be in the neighborhood. |

After the Louie fiasco I'm against anyone getting 6x6... |

3 years is reasonable. Even at 6.5/... Max deal should be 4 years... |

He's getting 4.8 now, does 5.5 x 3 work? |

I'm simply stating he's a good fit and should be brought back if possible. I do however find the gleeful trolling mildly amusing. |

Nothing over 6 mill and nothing longer than 4 max. |

Keep in mind this is Bennings White Whale.
How long has he been looking for this player? Guy comes in and score 6 goals 10 pts in 10 games . OT winner . Good in both ends and sticks up for his line mates. He also has 2 cup rings.
I think you are looking 5 mil x 4
I doubt any team this year is offering 6x6 for a free agent.
There also will be other UFAs sought after by teams with bottomless cap space . Hall Hoffman Dadinov Granlund ( the good one) Smith Namestnikov
I am sure Jim checked with his agent if he had interest in signing here and could they afford him
Secondly I see the Canucks making more cap space by moving and trading and a few more prospects might be included. |

Good god, now it's Benning's fault for a world wide pandemic.
He should have prepared for a situation like this and never ever, should ever try to better the talent of the team. What was he thinking I mean everyone knows that you prepare for pandemic situations when building a team to compete for the playoffs.
It wasn't a mistake, and if Toffoli signs it will not be a mistake on top of a non-mistake... - Makita
I’m not sure how you drew a line from A to Q like that, but good job.
It was a mistake, because it was a mistake. It was a win now (frank) the future move, in year two of a rebuild. If he signs, and it isn’t one of those contracts we’re talking about having to move in two years, then great. But don’t feel like you HAVE to sign him to make the trade look good. It’s a sunk cost, forget about the trade. |

Thanks, I found it easy getting there because of the statement it was a mistake, it wasn't, two differing opinions, who knew...
This isn't year two of a rebuild, just because the Sedins retired two years ago doesn't make that the start date.
Solid trade for Toffoli, solid trade for Miller neither are sunk costs, it is the cost of doing business to make the overall talent of the team better, and it did that. |

Would love for all those things to happen. I don’t think there will be many dance partners for Benning to offload some of the bad money he has on the books. I expect 🐻, Sutter, Beagle, Rousel, Eriksson all to play out their current contracts.
Yes, would like Toffy back, but I think there are bigger problems - D and goaltending to deal with first. |
