Would love for all those things to happen. I don’t think there will be many dance partners for Benning to offload some of the bad money he has on the books. I expect 🐻, Sutter, Beagle, Rousel, Eriksson all to play out their current contracts.
Yes, would like Toffy back, but I think there are bigger problems - D and goaltending to deal with first. - 1970vintage
If there's a compliance buyout this year things get easier. |

Thanks, I found it easy getting there because of the statement it was a mistake, it wasn't, two differing opinions, who knew...
This isn't year two of a rebuild, just because the Sedins retired two years ago doesn't make that the start date.
Solid trade for Toffoli, solid trade for Miller neither are sunk costs, it is the cost of doing business to make the overall talent of the team better, and it did that. - Makita
Miller is still under contract, not part of the discussion.
The cost to acquire Toffoli are sunk, you can’t reclaim them. What I’m saying is don’t consider them when deciding to sign him or not. Only consider the future, the same way they did for Edler, and should for Tanev.
I’m not really interested in debating the rebuild. It is what it is. |

It was a mistake, because it was a mistake. It was a win now (frank) the future move, in year two of a rebuild. If he signs, and it isn’t one of those contracts we’re talking about having to move in two years, then great. But don’t feel like you HAVE to sign him to make the trade look good. It’s a sunk cost, forget about the trade. - 1970vintage
Canucks just went out and signed Lockwood and Michealis and are looking to sign Brome and Hoglander . They are still building for the future. The Michealis signing I take as a sign to move on Sutter and go with Gaudette.
There is no way all these prospects will end up as a Canuck. |

I don't think they are moving everyone , I think they are moving Sutter.
If they don't find a dance partner they still have one regular buyout that I am positive will be used on Sven or Sutter. |

Agree, the stats say only about half of your second rounders make it? Means you need two, to get one NHL player. 3:1 for thirds?
I don’t expect any of those guys to make it but Hoglander, and evening then, he could go Dahlen on them. Until they don’t have place to play for their prospects, they don’t have enough. |

I could see Sven being bought out, but would rather just leave him in the minors, or loan him to a European league if he would prefer.
I think Green likes Sutter too much. Is it one more year for him as well? |

Well, hate to say it bro, but Pettersson's getting Matthews money at least and Hughes will likely get what Doughty makes easy |

The guys I do see becoming Canicks in the next two years are Podk Lind Briesbois and Rafferty if not traded.
Mikey D and Justin Bailey have an outside chance also. That is a lot of young guys. |

Why would EP get Matthews money(at least so you suggesting likely more?)? I'm not a fan of AM but he's an OV class goal scorer and all signs were there from the beginning that he was going to be a top scorer. Petey is one tier down and I doubt he will get close to 50 in the future with his style of play. |

OK I was under the impression Toffoli was a mistake based on the assumption the rebuild started two years ago, but maybe not.
I would have more of a problem with the attitude that costs are dismissed or not being considered when creating future plans for the team.
A lot of time, effort and money went into developing Tanev, I wouldn't be happy with my staff/team if they had a cavalier attitude that any costs in the past are no longer relevant, they should trade him if they are not signing him, recoup something from their investments.
Same holds true for Toffoli, a few here got upset with the trade, but I liked it and applaud Benning for acquiring Toffoli. I will be upset if he just lets him walk with the attitude "oh well cost of doing business, see ya Madden, see ya 2nd rounder, see ya Toffoli" |

If you keep Sutter then move or buy out Beagle .
I like Sutter too but we need to move on from some of these contracts. If it comes down to Toffoli or Sutter the choice for me is real easy |

JB did consider them in making the deal.
No decision on whether to resign him.
JB had & has every intent on doing so.
On the rebuild you opened that can o worms

Because other than goal-scoring (which I admit AM has him beat) EP is showing signs that he's better in every way. Better at playmaking, faceoffs, two-way center and doesn't get drunk and get caught with a DUI |

I'm not reading that from Vintsy, he didn't like the trade at this time in Canucks rebuild\non-rebuild period the team is in.
If Toffoli could be had for a modest pay increase Vintsy would be a happy camper, if I am correctly interpreting his posts. |

I’ll chime in, because I can, it was absolutely a win now move but IMHO that doesn’t make it a mistake. There’s some guys on the team like Horvat who’ve been working their asses off for the past four years while Benning’s misgivings had the team at the bottom of the league, I think he owed them a shot at the playoffs and the Toffoli move did that for them. |
