Pelech has certainly become a fantastic top pairing d-man. This is pretty shocking to most of us on here at this point. I can remember all of us furious with Capuano playing him so much (myself included). It was always a ... Why are we playing this guy. doesn't score, doesn't hit, not a fantastic talent...etc. I can't tell you how delighted I am watching what he has become on the Island. He is just an extremely solid D-man.. period. The kind of guy every team needs to eat up minutes and play great.

That said I can't imagine him getting $5 mill ++ b/c those kind of numbers are usually given to the D-men that score a ton of points. He isn't that type of player. My guess (hope) is Lou will sign him for as long as possible with a $4 millish handle on it. If He is smart he will take less $$ for less Term b/c he will make more on next deal as UFA for sure.

Just stop playing friggin soccer n the hallway. (Be interesting to see if there are any long term issues after injury is done. .. hopefully not.

People on here lost their shat when Garth protected him in expansion draft. Now we all know how much he is needed.

The
@NHLJets
have officially terminated Dustin Byfuglien’s contract. He is no longer part of the organization and his cap hit is off the books

(any hockey news is a welcome distraction..no?)

Yeah, I forgot about that protecting him thing too... we gave up the first round pick so it didn't really matter and I thought they did it to be nice to a young player. (first round pick became Barnstrom which is who was traded for Stone by the way).

C'mon dude before Trotz came here and installed a defensive system, all the players were up for grabs bc they all looked terrible. I believe the expansion draft was to protect Dehaan, which eventually left anyway lol and to shed Grabo's money. But do agree that wish Vegas would have just taken a player instead.

Hey, I am not blaming anyone. I’m just saying that when the list of protected players came out and Pelech was on it, people were upset. He didn’t deserve the spot. Now we are all glad he was protected. That’s all I’m saying.
