I could debate every single point you made above with our healthcare and testing limitations but I'm hung over and dont think it will matter to you anyway

Good point Carol.
So this draft will be even more of a crap shoot than normal years, given the layoff and lack of ability to review kidsin the playoffs.

It's probably the best year to give up picks given this, and given our prospect pool.

Mobile testing units are expensive and only have the capacity to do one test every 48 minutes. You can be positive for covid19 during the Asymptomatic phase and yield a negative test result. While we have massively increased our capacity and turnaround time for results with outsourcing different labs to help, making it a priority for players and doing daily testing is a massive misuse of testing, especially since we are still in the thick of the pandemic.

This season should just be a wash, it's a game, it's such a insignificant thing right now compared to what is going on and should be treated as such. Just my opinion.

Is it loaded, empty or has ample players at all positions?
Last I recall, it is very slim on defensemen and centres, 2 key positions.

Benning said a few weeks back all the players have been scouted over and over. They have been talked to also.

He is correct that they haven't seen them in championship games but they know who they are.

It is loaded with Ahl types, other than Woo, who I think will be a minute-muncher and Brisebois, who should be a decent4/5defenseman.

TBH, I couldn’t care less. I have no stake in the NHL so teams and league making money is no concern of mine. In fact trying to finish the season is plain greed.

Cancel season including playoffs and go straight to the draft in June. Then prepare for the 20/21 season to start as usual. That way they can monitor if there will be a second virus wave in the fall and not be responsible for unnecessary risk.

They should absolutely do this, but they won’t.

It’s pretty empty of any quality players because most of our good youth are on the big club. Pod, Lind, Hog, Juolevi, Dip, Rathbone, Keppen, etc...these are the kinds of prospects most every team has.

Not dismissing them at all, just nothing highend there like Hughes and Petey, who are no longer prospects.

Yeah, they know who the prospects are of course, but I think without the playoffs you miss the opportunity for players to impress and 'move up' the rankings.

I think if i was given an option, i'd give up the pick this year and give the crew the better opportunity to do a full scout next year.

We've had 3 ROY candidates in the past 3 years.
i'd say Podk, Lind, Hogey and Juolevi are pretty highend potentially.
I think Woo, RAthbone, Saunter, Gadjovich, Lockwood, Briesbois, Rafferty, Dipietro, etc are a tier below (at least), hopefully 1 or 2 can fill a bottom roster role.

Yes I’m aware of the Calder kids but I wasn’t referring to them, I was strictly speaking of the prospect pool, which they are not a part of.

I see nothing in Podkolzin, Hoglander, Lind or OJ that screams highend player. By that I mean I don’t expect them to be in the same class as Boeser, Pettersson or Hughes. That doesn’t mean they won’t be successful NHL players though.

Ok.
Well, my point was that we have a bunch of highend kids (not prospects) in the system and a few that could be highend (prospects).

i don't think we could reasonably expect to land a prospect that 'screams highend player' this year at around where we (or NJD) pick and I am therefore happy to exchange that pick this year for JTM and pick the next year.

Just before sports all shut down I was listening to a segment on Canuck prospects and among the good news, Woo fell under the disappointing news. The claim was he didn't really show any progress on the Hitmen. I'm not sure if they were just focusing on the 20 point drop off or not. Anyone know more on this?

Yeah, I was a neophyte and didn’t realize you do the killing at night or while it’s raining. Plus my ladder wasn’t tall enough. Just a series of comical errors.

The next day there was just a cloud of wasps outside of the entrance because the poison stopped them from getting in. They were angry and waiting for me.

Good suggestion on the pheromone bag though. Thx. This summer I’ll be armed with knowledge!

The Pheromone bag helps prevent them from building elsewhere.
