Signing undrafted players (who actually played more than 50 NHL games) was actually one of GMMG’s very few strengths. Bargain finds. Not surprising for a player agent.

Tanev by far is his best. There are two more I can think of but they didn’t amount to much; Lack and Archibald. Still though, they did play in the NHL for several seasons.

On the topic of undrafted free agents, MG drafted Tanev. Thats a successful top 60 pick if drafted. That was excellent.

That still will never tilt the scales as far as poor drafting goes. Gillis is the worse ever as a Canuck. This place has had a lot of emotions over JV and OJ not meeting expectations but imagine Bennings critics if year after year after year the Canucks had nothing to show for it out of the 1st round?

Gillis wasnt even a GM any longer by the time one of his 1st round picks stepped onto NHL ice and looked promising. Benning using picks lower than 20th still managed Boeser and McCann. So the excuse of draft position doesnt wash. He had 2 shots and hit with both....

The last time I did peach fest I ended up taking acid and walking through the hills picking apricots and peaches.

Next season won’t start earlier than December
