Carol Schram: Health authority gives the green light for Vancouver to be an NHL hub city The Vancouver Canucks have tossed their hat in the ring to potentially host NHL games this summer, and the provincial health authority says there are ways to make that happen. Also, a draft update and more memories from 2011.

I don't think the situation currently has any effect on Jim's ability to recoup draft selections. He hasn't done the previous years, he wasn't about to do it this year either. No big deal, he already has too many prospects in the pipeline anyway.

Full face shields no fighting

Vegas has a lot of hotels and the players can get a little gambling in , in between hospital recovery time. Hopefully they will have a guide of which casinos have the worst spread rate. The mayor of that city did say she would shut down the ones that contract the most.

I hope we trade Sutter and he scores a goal against his new team for next year and knocks them out of the playoffs.

Good ol NHL

The more this league pushes to complete the season and the playoffs the less interested in hockey I am. They are trying to put themselves above this health crisis as our lives are changing forever and not for the best. The greed is really off putting.

lol the Mayor of Las Vegas has literally no control over the casinos as the Strip isn't technically in the city of Las Vegas.

Rosters frozen has every effect on trading.
The past cannot be undone.
This year is far from done.
The pipeline is for the future when hockey resumes & as of now nobody knows who may or may not be dealt. Madden proves JB is willing & has the assets to make moves.

Now to date it’s easier for JB to say & try to recoup picks than it is to do.

So with JB wanting to recoup picks what does he mean by that or what’s his plan?

Trade a prospect(s)? That seems a lateral move. OJ?
Trade a current roster player(s)? Sutter?

Any other thoughts/ideas?

I think his point was that Benning is always talking about re-couping the picks he gives away in his questionable trades but never actually follows through with actually re-couping the picks. So, in essence, he was not going to be getting picks when he trades away the prospects he has.

I will add my two cents.

I had already written this years draft off and don't really care one way or the other. It is nice if we get a first round pick but I like the trade and sooner or later we lose a first.

When the season ends and free agency opens up there will be a lot of bargains available and very little reason to look at bringing back overpriced injury prone UFAs

I am sure we will make some moves as far as getting rid of one or two contracts and I think we will make one very significant trade for a Dman.

The core players will all be back so the rest is just fluff. Let the chips fall where they fall.

Well done Carol.

Carolina is a solid choice for the COVID NHL games...should be about the same crowd attendance like the reg. season.

Take the Gillis approach. If we are going to be in the PO's for the next 5-10 seasons why worry about picks?

It is possible that Hoglander could be a Canuck this year but it is also possible Rafferty MacEwen or Bailey could play also and none of them were drafted. Gillis never did that.

Michaelis looks like a good signing also.

Ah, the BCIT recording studios; I remember those The whole hockey/sports podcast obsession was rife in that school when I was there and it seems like it still is.

Difference being, no one was charging money for their podcasts when I was there.
