Like i keep saying....its time to start slowly letting the low-risk individuals get back to work/daily life. This includes professional athletes. The very small minority of high-risk individuals can stay in quarantine and wait for their vaccine. The rest of the world(where this won't have any more of an effect than catching the common cold) has to go on. Not all at once, but gradually. Starting now. - SimpleJack
I don't want this discussion .This is a hockey board ,I got off track . I am glad the AHL shut down . Hope others follow . |

That entire game was INSANE. Hawks up 3-1, then I believe down 5-4, then scored 3 late and won 7-5.
That 7th goal by Kane that you mentioned was AMAZING |

Was that the back hander from the high slot, or am I thinking of something else? |

Which also shows the best goalies in the league that year did not carry their teams to the SCF. - RaleighHawk
Honestly the way i remember it, occasional night he would lay an egg, 3 other nights very solid, one night just stood on his head, out of 5 games this was the Niemi i knew. Brodeur he was not, greater than Huet absolutely.

All that 2009-2010 roster required was an average goalie. Someone who was just good enough to get the job done. Niemi was that guy. Right place right time for him. |

Keeping businesses shut is unnecessary at this point. Everyone will most likely be exposed to the virus eventually. The point was to flatten the curve, not keep everyone on lockdown until a cure is found. Walmarts are open, why can't the NHL play games - just69sayin
I would like to cut my chances of "most likely catching it from any MF who has been uncareful so far and exposed the 50 plus people by thinking the way you are expressing from the start of this...since I am 70.
Science is not an opinion.
and you know what? If everybody, is going to get it, it doesn't have to be at once, or this summer, it can be stretched out to next summer and maybe we hedge the chances that things people actions improve towards our combat of it.
How about we start restructuring every little part not a pay as we go of late plexiglass and not recognizing hefty sneeze goee 20 feet not 5....so you want to relax things so I die is what I am reading.
There are are already tons of heroes out there including each an every supermarket worker, many who are set in part time slots under 40 hours so the PUBLIX supermarket chain doesn't have to treat them tom the benefits of a 40 hr full time employee, but they (Publix)has already contributed the max to someones election campaign.
Not even able to fathom Amy down the street an emergency room surgeon/ doctor with four kids under 6 who took a oath to serve the sick, and is on the line everyday.
Nope. Although I may already have gotten the virus as a silent carrier after two days at Disneyworld Animal Kingdom and Disney studios I am NOT walking out and putting you in danger because I "think"everybody will eventually be exposed. |

Completely unrelated to the topics raised in this blog, but at least it is hockey related:
Any chance Justin Barron is still on the board for our second round pick? He's definitely first round size and talent, but will his blood clot issues make teams pass on him? - tvetter
Yes, sorry I got bruised and crazy there.
I do not think Justin Barron can stay on the board that long until 55 slot.
I think expansion will see even more importance to taking defenders.
The nice thing is long term there are more than a few bigger defenders some with nasty and at happy being stay at home guys until with work and attempt to transform to Marc Giordanos.
I have been arguing another draft point with myself not an article for somewhere....would Ottawa gi=ve both 2nd and 3rd for the ability to that the select Alexis Lafrenière (even if the Red Wings gave them the 1st pick in the second too (32nd overall)
Trades like tghuis are rare and Detroit gets two chances for Lafrenière...would both sides consider?
who would who wouldn't or neither would?

So you think the virus is going away if we kill small businesses and have an essential only lockdown? Do you think it is going away forever after we handle a so called second wave? And what science? You mean the so called data that has many undefined variables? |

Every time you go out to say the grocery you are playing Russian roulette.
At 20, I had a gunshot laceration that thankfully was low enough caliber and off enough that I escaped the skull being penetrated. just the hair and skin being lacerated. I am not interested in a "second hang gun encounter" by way of having to be disked away away from my people and hooked up to a respirator monitored by over worked people.
And before you ask, my gun, a friend's joking aim and pull, not the stupid one bullet game...a stupid kid who thought ownership would protect my mother and me...which is an interesting current fact: since the pandemic gun sales are on an uptick...I guess the haves need to make sure the have-nots aren't coming g for them? |

And I agree with that and think that is optimal. That is also why I think if Amazon, not the river... (sorry, bad joke) and other plants can operate and Walmart, Target, etc., that the NHL can figure out a way to operate without adding a bunch of major outbreaks and stress to hospitals. |

Here we go. Changing the story again. Small business is going to suffer, big business is going to suffer, virus will still do damage no matter what. Thinking that the solution is to open everything up for some glimmer of hope to save the economy went away when the government didn't act immediate like South Korea. Just the way it is, suck it up, it's a different tomorrow, these cycles happen

Well, living in Illinois, us Illinoisians, or Cook County Illinoisians, already have to suck it up don't we? Still have to pay taxes on those small business properties, meanwhile the public workers, not providing any services at this time, get paid. |

Yep, so police, fireman, public works employees aren't working in cook? I'm upset about all this a well but I guess i subscribe to people first, money second, things 3rd. How businesses have to be so lean to compete against one another, it sucks.
Btw all those not working would get paid anyway, unemployment. I just don't understand how these people are a part of the economy but for whatever reason they shouldn't get any benefits. |

BTD, he said public employees not providing services at this time, not employees currently providing services, like CPD & CFD. Yes those employees would be able to collect unemployment, however the cost of unemployment would be far less than their current salaries and benefits. |

I guess, but their jobs will be there when the government reopens.
I marvel at pointing fingers at many who probably don't make as much as people working in the business sector and then being angry that in times like this that government employees are being taken care of, and we all know the business sector is profits first. |

While the 2010 team was outstanding, I always viewed them like the Bulls team that won the 1st of the 1st 3-peat against the Lakers. Young, ultra-talented, probably didn't realize how good they were, just coming into their own.
I still like the 2013 team better, just like I prefer the 72-10 Bulls. The unbeaten record, the players more mature and fully into their prime, the ability to dominate teams, and turn things around when up against a wall (down against DET & 17 seconds v. BOS).
2013 will always be my favorite. |
