Is that really necessary? Is there only one solution to this problem? Are we not allowed to even discuss other options for addressing this situation?
The purpose of flattening the curve is NOT to reduce the total number of infections or deaths. It is used simply so that we do not overwhelm the healthcare system. The method does not change the total number of infections. Regardless of when states open back up there will always be spikes in cases. Yes testing should be at a level where you can identify hotspots. LA Mayor Garcetti has said that anyone in LA county that wants a test can get one.
Is the South Korea model even feasible to implement in the US? In a place like NY (where the population in NY City is 1/6 that of all of South Korea)? Should we treat each and every state and city the same? Why isn't Sweden being commended for their efforts? - Chunk
I don't know Chunk what the best solution is or how to go about it. I know here in Illinois they are recognizing less populated areas should have less restrictions as opposed to more populated areas. They numbered the zones. So we will have different restrictions for each zone. Seems wise to me. I agree with the governor taking it day to day and using the data to determine on what to do.
Personally I view this as a severe storm heading towards me not much i can do besides batten down the hatches and hope my home is still standing once it passes. |

The only thing I'm sure of is that I don't have any answers and I know I'm at a higher risk. But if I were a business owner and was shut down I'd have issues taking direction from a governor who's accountants at his birth couldn't count all his money. So I don't think he has much of a handle on people suffering. I think he's doing the best that he can listening to the health authorities, but some logic and common sense should be in the mix as well. Good luck to all. |

Fair enough, honestly i feel better that he uses more caution than the governor in Georgia.

LeBrun has an interview posted to the Athletic with Bill Daly.
Basically, Daly says that nothing is imminent. They would need to get to Phase 2 (ending quarantine and allowing skaters to practice in small groups) before any season decisions are made.
The Draft is still up in the air. June was the leading idea for a while, before a board of Governors call where several teams put up a stink.
Testing (and the overall plan) is the most important part of the whole thing. |

I hope they do the draft in June. It really would create some interest back In the sport. I know the NFL draft got allot of people excited again. personally I want it because if they do a June Draft it increases the chance of a compliance buyout. would there be any team helped more then CHI in a compliance buyout. if they hold off and stagnate or reduce the cap trading players on AVG contracts would get you no return.

I'm just happy that they are taking a very measured approach to everything and not rushing the decisions in an effort to capitalize on nothing else being on. |

Agree 100%. Not sure he’s using common sense, or if he has any. Why is it okay to open up Walmart, but not small business, small business can probably regulate how many people enter the business and social distancing better than Walmart. Why not foursomes for golf vs twosomes, makes no sense. I could keep going but would rather discuss hockey. |

If the NHL resumed play with a 24-team playoffs and the Hawks qualified under the allowance of expanded rosters to 30 players, I started thinking about who would the Rockford callups.
CURRENT ROSTER
23 active players
LTIR: (4)
de Haan
Seabrook
Shaw
Smith
Forwards: (13)
Caggiula (IR or LTIR?)
Carpenter
Dach
DeBrincat
Hagel
Highmore
Kampf
Kane
Kubalik
Nylander
Saad
Strome
Toews
Defensemen: (8)
Beaudin
Boqvist
Carlsson
Keith
Koekkoek
Maatta
Murphy
Seeler
Goalies: (2)
Crawford
Subban
ROCKFORD CANDIDATES
For 7 spots, possibly 8 depending on Caggiula's status
Forwards:
Entwistle
Fortin
Kurashev
Quenneville
Sikura
Soderlund
Defensemen:
Gilbert
Krys
McCoshen
Mitchell (does not qualify)
Goalies:
Delia
Lankinen
By the time play resumes (if it does), some injured Hawks may be ready to go so that decreases the number of available spots for Black Aces. |

Oh they are trying to capitalize on that ,they have already said as much . How absurd is it to have the draft before the season ends ,with trades still pending . Time for a call -up ,who running the AHL .Call him up to replace Bettman . |

That was part of the interview. Nothing is decided nor are they close to doing much right now. Everything is still being considered. Would it be OK to have the draft if they official scrapped the rest of the season? |

Teply, Barratt, and Altbarmakyan also have ELCs but not sure if they would qualify to be Black Aces. Even if they did, I likely wouldn't consider any of them given the other Rockford forwards who have more pro experience (even if it is just one year).
Mitchell, though, would be a no brainer unless they wanted to give seniority to McCoshen and Gilbert (Krys, too). |

I thought that they couldn’t sign players to play this season any more - he could only sign annELC starting next season. |

Don't think Mitchell is eligible to play if the season resumes. See my link to an article at the bottom of page 3 of this thread |

Who knows if they will actually be able to pull it off. It was interesting to read that AZ basically allowed sporting events to start up on Saturday without fans. I didn't read that anywhere else (and can't seem to find anything on it). Anyone have any more info on that? |

These are uncharted waters. It is easy to criticize leaders for their decisions. There is no playbook for any of them and if it seems like they are making it up as they go along, they probably are.
I will take the ones who at least give the appearance of using people with some knowledge about medicine/science than those who don't.
There is no winning for them. Every decision they make it going to piss off half the population.
