Thanks Carol, the NHL community needs to speak up, they have a voice that's heard by many as they're public figures with a platform, whether they like it or not.
TBT I haven't read any players or any teams statement. My immediate though is where were these statements 4 months ago?
How many top positions in the NHL or any sport are held by non whites? You want to make a real statement then employ equal opportunity. There are a lot of passionate East Indians Blacks and Asians across Canada and yet I can't think of one head coach GM or president that is ethnic.
Liddle Towers beaten to death by British police in the 1970's. Race riots followed. This was a popular song among the punks and skins I hung with in the early 80's.
Carol did you see this on Sportsnet? Does our lack of playoff experience concern you going up against a veteran Minnesota team? Providing the NHL actually goes ahead and starts again.
Thanks Carol, great work. I read JT’s comments on twitter this morning and felt that he was genuine in his conviction but time will tell. I think it’s great that those with the platform available to them are striving to be heard, sure makes the NFL look stupid now...

Even though the play-in round is not playoffs, it is a playoff-like situation. Even if they lose, it is valuable experience. - Retinalz
Agree, plus they'll get to keep their 1st rounder this year. Either way it's a good situation to be in for our young guys, who now make up the core of the team.
Trevor Linden
124 playoff games played, 34 goals, 65 assists, 104 PIM - playoff warrior, no cups.
Mike Gardner
122 playoff games played, 43 goals, 50 assists, 125 PIM - all star MVP, HHOF no cups
Jonathan Toewes with 17 games of playoff experience (in one season, his second) Stanley cup, Conn Smyth.
The best players are still the best players. - 1970vintage
True, but the experience of knowing what's coming is what I'm referring to. The experience of just knowing how you're going to have to rise above the normal is invaluable.
Linden had seven points in seven games the first time he experienced the playoffs, Toews had thirteen points in seventeen games and then won the Conn Smythe the next year, however, sometimes star players struggle to adapt, you just picked two that fit your narrative.
Mike Gartner had zero points in four games the first time he experienced the playoffs.

I’m not saying the experience isn’t valuable, just that it isn’t as important as some make it out to be, especially GM’s who overpay a player because they had success in the playoffs in the past.
I chose one player who we all know well, and one of the greats of the game who I wasn’t even sure if he had won a cup or not until I looked.
Pettersson just won a league championship and tournament MVP two years ago, pretty sure he will be fine.
