Thomas Townsend: CBJ Clinch a Playoff spot...kind of; Columbus as a Host City

The problem with that outcome (for me) would be the continuation of the glorification of boring hockey. I bet Torts is the greatest guy in the world in person (seriously, I do believe that) but I wouldn't want within 100 miles of my hockey team (and CBJ is my second team, I was born and raised in Ohio). Our current coach isn't much better but Lavi wore out his welcome so that's where we are too.

I think CBJ v TOR will go 5 games . . . and could go either way. I'm concerned about the Jackets coming off this "Pause", as it's like starting a new season. Although I haven't looked at the stats to support this, I believe historically the Jackets are slow season starters. This also applies after those long, 5-day, or All-star breaks. It takes them at least a couple of games to get up-to-speed.

I disagree with your feeling that solid goal tending would not have an effect in a 5-game series. Let's say Elvis gets smokin' hot - like 3 shutouts in 5 games (remember?). The fat lady would be singin' !!

Yeah but . . . some teams seem to have the capability to jump off to a fast start.
And yes, we'll be getting back everyone but maybe Anderson. Texier is also "iffy", but Foudy can potentially fill that hole.
